Visa type details
Tourist visa
- Germany issues a tourist visa to individuals who want to travel for leisure and tourism purposes.
- It is a short stay visa valid for 90 days and is extendable.
- Germany is a part of the Schengen agreement so this visa can be used for other Schengen countries.
- Applicants are required to have valid medical travel insurance worth a minimum of £30,000. This is to cover any emergency that might occur during the trip.
- Holders of this visa can visit friends and relatives, attend festivals and ceremonies while in Germany.
- Hotel reservation is required for applicants who do not have a host in Germany. If you have a host, the host is required to issue an invitation letter.
- The letter should state the relationship between both parties and the contact details of the host.
- Proof of financial means must be presented. This could be in the form of a bank statement not older than three months, or a letter of sponsorship by another person (Declaration of Commitment).
- There is a current restriction on the amount that can be brought into Germany. If you travel with over £10,000, you will have to declare it on entry into the country.
- Civil status should be proven via birth certificate, marriage certificate or any other form of national identity.
- Since January 10th, 2019, the embassy of Germany in Sudan stopped accepting fees in Euro. Fees are accepted only in SDG.
- Ensure that the bank notes are not torn, glued or labeled. The embassy will reject any such notes.
- The Schengen visa entitles you to stay for a maximum of 90 days per 180 days in the Schengen area.
- Germany short-stay visa costs 60 Euro which is equivalent to 3,018.97 SDG.
- Applicants are to submit their application in person to the embassy. The consular officer will collect your biometrics and ask questions about your trip.
Business visa
- A business visa is issued for business-related activities in Germany.
- Holders of this visa can attend conferences and seminars with this visa.
- If you will be going to a conference, proof of pre-registration for the conference is required.
- Employed applicants are to present a letter from their employer. The letter should state that the employer is aware of the trip and that the applicant would return to their job after the trip.
- Those who are visiting Germany for the purpose of attending courses, training, and cultural events are also eligible for this visa.
- Self-employed applicants should have a copy of their tax clearance and business registration certificate.
- If you are retired, your retirement certificate should be provided.
- Applicants are expected to submit their applications in person as an interview would be required and biometrics would be taken.
- The host company in Germany should issue a letter of invitation stating the nature of businesses to be conducted, the duration of the business and financier of the trip.
- If the host company will not finance the trip, a recent bank statement showing enough funds for the trip should be submitted.
- Your application will only be accepted when you have all the necessary documents required by the embassy.
- For stays that exceed 30 days, include a detailed schedule of any pre-arranged business meetings.
- This visa allows for a maximum stay of 180 days in one year.
Student visa
- Sudanese travelling to take up courses of study in Germany can apply for this visa.
- If the duration of your course is not more than 90 days, you can use a German student visa but if it is above 90 days, you will have to apply for a temporary resident permit.
- In case you need to apply for a resident permit, it should be done within one month of entry into Germany.
- Before applying for this visa, ensure that you have been admitted into a higher institution of learning in Germany.
- Proof of financial resources known as “Finanzierungsnachweis” must be provided.
- The applicant is required to show a blocked German bank account statement, signed and sealed, containing the sum of €10,236 deposit.
- If your parents will sponsor the course of study, a letter of commitment and proof of their assets should be provided.
- Individuals on scholarship should submit a certificate showing the amount that the scholarship covers.
- Those with German sponsors other than parents are to submit a letter called “Verpflichtungserklärung”. This letter is taken at the Alien’s Registration Office, by the German resident who is going to cover your costs during your studies.
- Students of language courses are to demonstrate proficient use of German.
- For English and mixed study programs, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and The International English Language Testing System(IELTS) should be passed.
- Transcripts of previous degrees earned and certificates should be provided.
- All applications are to be submitted to the embassy of Germany in Sudan personally.
- Applicants are to prepare for an interview when submitting their applications. The interview is usually about 20 minutes.
- The student visa is a long-stay visa and it costs £75 which is equivalent to 3,774.04 SDG.
