Visa type details
Visitor Visa
- Visitor visa is issued to individuals who want to travel to Norway for tourism or visitation purposes.
- The Norwegian visitor visa allows individuals to conduct businesses, tour Norway, attend cultural exhibitions and visit friends and relatives.
- Norway is a Schengen country so its visa can be used for entry into countries under the Schengen agreement.
- You must have enough funds to support your trip. If you do not have enough funds, you would be refused entry into Norway.
- Medical insurance valid for all Schengen states worth a minimum of 30,000 euros is required.
- Currency restriction for entry to Norway is 25,000 Norwegian Kroner (or equivalent), not including traveler’s checks.
- Failure to present all required documents during your visa application will result in delayed or rejected application.
- It is recommended that you have all the documents slipped into a long brown envelope when you appear for the interview.
- Norwegian embassy requires a covering letter giving details about your trip including the length of the trip, accommodation and transport arrangements and purpose of the trip. The letter should be signed appropriately.
- From the 28th of July 2019, the Norwegian Embassy in Khartoum stopped receiving applications for a Visitor’s visa to Norway. If you need a Schengen visa to visit Norway you must instead apply through the services of the Swedish embassy in Khartoum.
Work visa
- Individuals who want to take up paid employment in Norway can apply for this visa.
- Holder of this visa must apply for a residence permit which is valid for the duration of the contract.
- Applications for a work visa can be done at the Norwegian Embassy in Khartoum.
- The employment contract issued by the company in Norway should be presented during the visa application.
- A letter of recommendation from a Sudanese official should be issued to the applicant.
- Your employer in Norway is expected to write a letter stating why a foreigner was chosen to work over a qualified citizen of Norway.
- Individuals who want to apply for this visa must have a clean criminal record for the minimum of a year in Sudan or country of residence.
- The applicant's resume and certificates are also to be submitted to the consul.
- Ensure that your passport was not issued more than 7 years ago and is still valid for up to 3 months from intended return date to Sudan.
- If you have been posted to run a branch in Norway, you can do so with this visa.
- It is important to have your permit with you at all times as you can be stopped and questioned by local police. You could be arrested if you are not with a permit.
- All applicants are to take tests to ensure they are free of any contagious illness before travelling to Norway.
- Medical travel insurance worth 30,000 euros and valid through all Schengen countries is required.
- Visa extensions are only approved if done due to emergencies.
