Basic Travel Requirements for Tanzanians visiting Netherlands
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Dutch Visa.
- Duly completed and signed an application form.
- Original Tanzania passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of exit from the Netherlands.
- Your passport must have 2 blank visa pages and cannot have been issued for more than 10 years.
- Two recent 35mm x 45mm. the passport-sized photograph that meets the visa photo requirement.
- For minors traveling alone, the application form must be signed by the parents/legal guardians accompanied by a signed consent form.
- The birth certificate is required for minors as well as a valid means of identification of the parents.
- For Non Tanzanians, a valid residence permit to prove residence in Tanzanian is required.
- Travel insurance that covers all kinds of medical emergencies up to a minimum of €30,000.
- Travel itinerary showing entry and exit dates from the Netherlands.
- Proof of sponsorship signed by your host in the Netherlands or proof of financial capability that shows you can take care of your expenses during your stay.
- Documentation proving status in the Netherlands either as an employee, student or business owner.
- Letter of invitation from a host in the Netherlands if the purpose is to visit a friend or relative or hotel reservations spanning the duration of your stay in the Netherlands.
- A cover letter detailing the purpose, duration and any other necessary information about the trip.

Netherlands Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Tanzanians who intend to visit the Netherlands for vacation, sightseeing or other leisure activities are eligible to apply for a short-stay tourist visa. The tourist visa also permits you to visit friends and relatives residing in the Netherlands.
- Your passport must have been issued within the last ten years.
- You must provide a recent statement of your financial situation from your bank or your salary slip for the last three months.
- Proof of a hotel reservation, or proof that private accommodation should be provided. This could be a letter or scanned email attachment from the host confirming that the host would provide accommodation.
- You must provide proof of having obtained travel insurance and medical insurance policy, including medical emergency evacuation cover corresponding with the period of your stay.
- You must be in good physical and mental health and free from any kind of contagious diseases before applying for this visa.
- If your means of feeding and expenses are provided by a host in the Netherlands, relevant documents should be provided.
- You must not have been refused entry into the Netherlands previously.
- You are expected to leave the Netherlands at the end of your authorized stay.
- Your stay must not exceed 90 days.
- This visa costs €60 for Tanzanians 12 years and above and €35 for children between 6-11.
Netherlands Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The business visa is issued to foreign nationals who intend to travel to the Netherlands for business purposes. This is a short-stay visa and it permits a stay of no longer than 90 days within a 180-day period
- Two recently taken photos must be attached. Both photos must be taken within the last three months, according to the Schengen visa photo requirements.
- Round trip reservation or itinerary, it must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from the Schengen area.
- A document that proves you have travel health insurance for the whole Schengen territory, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
- A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Schengen. This could be a hotel booking, a rental agreement, or a letter of invitation from a host at whose house you will be staying.
- Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially during your Business trip to Europe.
- Letter from employer. Meticulously describing the purpose of the travel as well as the itinerary of the days spend within the Schengen zone.
- Invitation letter. Written by the partner company in the Schengen zone, faxed also to the corresponding consulate. This letter has to appear as an invitation to attend meetings or other relevant events matching trade, industry or work.
- It must be stated either in the employer’s letter or the partner company’s invitation that one of both parties will be covering the applicant’s travel expenses during his/her stay in the Schengen Zone.
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies proof of such an event.
- For employees:
- Employment contract.
- Current bank statement for the latest 6 months.
- Leave permission from the employer.
- Income Tax Return (ITR) form or Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary.
- For the self-employed:
- A copy of your business license.
- Company bank statement for the latest 6 months.
- Income Tax Return (ITR).
- Your stay must not exceed 90 days.
- This visa costs €60 for Tanzanians.
Netherlands Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is for those who need to receive medical care in the Netherlands for periods up to 90 days.
- Two photos, these photos must be identical and no older than three months, fulfilling the Schengen criteria for visa photos.
- You must provide a roundtrip flight reservation document that shows details regarding your flight to the Schengen area and back, including flight numbers and dates.
- Travel medical insurance covering the whole of Schengen areas, with minimal coverage of €30,000 during your whole period of stay.
- Proof of accommodation in any of the following:
- Confirmed Accommodation in the Medical Clinic/Hospital.
- Hotel Booking.
- Letter of invitation.
- Rent Contract.
- Proof of civil status: Marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, if applicable.
- Proof of paid fee. Which is €60 for adults, but the fees are lower or reduced for children and some specific categories.
- Proof that the applicant has sufficient financial means to pay the medical expenses and other related expenses throughout their treatment. This can be one of the following:
- Bank statements.
- Letter of sponsorship + bank statements of the sponsor.
- Proof of advance payments for the treatment + bank statements for other related expenses.
- Verbal note from the Ministry of Health of applicant’s home country. If the ministry of health in your home country will be covering the costs to your health treatment a letter declaring the readiness of the government to cover your medical treatment costs.
- A letter from a doctor/clinic/ hospital in the home country of the visa candidate, that he or she needs medical treatment in the specific Schengen country.
- Official confirmation of the treatment/appointment by the receiving medical institution (hospital/clinic) in the EU.
- Proof of advance payment of the treatment / financial arrangements with the medical doctor in the Schengen Area
- Correspondence between the sending medical doctor and the receiving medical doctor
- A guarantee letter from the applicant to assure the patient’s capacity to cope with the extra medical costs (when expecting unforeseen costs of medical treatment to happen)
- Confirmed Accommodation in the Medical Clinic
- For minors, provide the birth certificate in original, accompanied with a copy.
- Letter of consent from the other parent or from both parent.
- Death certificate of the parent if applicable.
- You must not exceed 90 days of stay.
- Visa fee cost 60 euros for adults and 35 euros for children 6-12 years of age.
Netherlands Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Two recent photos. Taken within the last three months and according to the requirements for a Schengen visa photo.
- Transit visa for seafarers must have a letter from the inviting shipping company in the Netherlands which the seafarers will disembark.
- For airport transit visa, you must have a return flight ticket reservation showing the ongoing travel to a third country and a visa issued by the country of your travel destination in case you need a visa.
- A travel insurance policy that covers any medical emergencies with a minimum of €30,000.
- Proof of paid visa fee. Which costs the same as a short-stay visa, that is €60.
- Employment contract. Contract with the navigation company/ship in order to board the ship for a transit visa for seafarers.
- An airport transit visa is valid for 24hours and only in the international transit area of a Netherlands airport.
- Transit Netherlands visa for seafarers permits its holder to stay a maximum of five days in the Schengen territory, before leaving to a non-Schengen country.
