Basic Travel Requirements for Tanzanians visiting Oman
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Omani Visa.
- An application form that is filled, signed and stamped.
- Recent (35 by 45) passport photograph with a white background displaying a neutral expression.
- The passport photograph should display a full frontal view of the applicant’s head placed in the center.
- Passport with six months' validity beyond stay in Oman.
- Passport should have at least one blank for the visa stamp.
- Travel itinerary or documents that shows entry and exit date from the country.
- Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever.
- For minors, birth certificate and parent’s ID documents are required.
- All documents should be translated into either English or Arabic.

Oman Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is for persons who are traveling to Oman for business purposes.
- The applicant is not to wear eyeglasses or headwear (except for religious purposes) in their passports.
- Passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the exit from Oman.
- You are to provide a letter written by your employer in Tanzania stating your job position.
- You are also to provide an incentive that shows that you have plans to return to Tanzania.
- You are to leave Oman before the expiration of your visa.
- If you wish to remain in Oman longer than your visa allows, you are to apply for an extension of your visa.
- Failure to leave Oman before your visa expires will result in a fine of 10 Riyals for overstaying.
- Applicants below 21 years and above the age of 60 years are not eligible for a business visa.
- In case the applicant is been sponsored by someone other than the applicant, the representative must be Omani and must hold a written authorization issued from the Directorate General of Passport & Residence.
- Applicants are required to provide a letter of invitation from the company or organization that they will be visiting in Oman.
- The letter must be issued or signed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry,
- A business letter written on the inviting company's letterhead and stating the nature of the business to be conducted is to be provided.
- The address and contact information of the company in Oman is to be stated in the letter.
- The letter should also indicate the length of the applicant's stay in Oman.
Oman Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- A student visa is granted at the request of a local sponsor and on his responsibility to a foreigner who is coming to Oman as a student.
- A passport that is valid beyond the date of arrival in Oman.
- You are not permitted to take up any form of employment with this visa in Oman.
- Copy of the license issued by the concerned authorities to the sponsor to bring students from abroad to study in Oman.
- A covering letter from the sponsor explaining the type of institution to be attended by the applicant.
- The letter should state clearly that the applicant is of good conduct.
- The letter should also indicate the duration and purpose of stay.
- The duration of the student visa is valid for a stay of 2 years.
- Visa can be extended if the duration of stay is more than two years.
- Educational or training institutions should be approved by the governments of Oman.
- Visa fee for Omani student visa is 20 Omani Riyals.
Oman Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is for foreigners visiting Oman for tourist purposes or visiting friends and family.
- Original passport valid for use within six months from the date of issuance is required.
- Head wears should be worn only for religious purposes in passport photos.
- The applicant's name on the application form should be the same as displayed on the passport.
- Tourist applicants must not overstay their visa or a fine of 10 Riyals will be paid per day for delay.
- A tourist visa is valid for staying in the country for a period not exceeding thirty days from the date of entry.
- This visa may be extended for a similar period.
- Applicants are required to provide a copy of the flight itinerary.
- Applicants should submit a copy of hotel confirmation serving as proof of accommodation.
- If the applicant is visiting friends or family and has made plans to stay at their residence, the host is to write a letter stating their relationship with the applicant and their contact address.
- If the host is not a citizen of Oman they are to make available their residence permit.
- The maximum stay required for a tourist visa is 30 days and may be extended for one month.
- If the applicant is being sponsored, a copy of the sponsor’s personal identity card is required.
- The bank statement of the host is also to be submitted.
- A copy of the passport of the foreign resident to be visited is required.
- A letter is required from the sponsor declaring that he/she will be responsible for the visitor during a visit to Oman, and must mention the relationship with that visitor.

What is the official language in Oman?
The official language in Oman is modern standard Arabic. Other widely spoken languages are Baluchi, English, Urdu and other indigenous languages.
What is the official currency of Oman?
The official currency in Oman is the Omani Rial(OMR) abbreviated OR and widely written as RO. Emarati Dirham(AED) is also accepted in Oman. Credit cards can be used with the ATMs all over the country. Traveller's cheques are only accepted by International hotel chains so tourists should be mindful.
Can I work with a students visa in Oman?
You can not work in Oman if you are a holder of a students visa. However, if you are an original holder of a work permit, you can attend classes in Oman.
Can I bring meat into Oman?
To carry meat products into Oman, you need an Islamic slaughter certificate and an import license.
Is Alcohol allowed in Oman?
Considering the fact that Oman is an Islamic country, alcohol is illegal and you can not carry it into the country except you are a non-muslim. However, only certain hotels and restaurants are licensed to sell alcohol. In fact, you need a license to be in possession of and consume alcohol at home.
Is it safe in Oman?
The Royal Oman Police is very efficient and honest so the crime rate in Oman is very low. However, burglary theft and theft of property of foreign nationals is common in tourist populated areas so visitors should beware.
