How to get a Chad visa from Thailand

• The Chad tourist visa is issued to Thais visiting the country for tourism and visitation purposes.
• There are two types of Chad tourist visas:
• Single-entry visa: this visa is valid for 30 days and is not extendable.
• Multiple-entry visa: this visa is valid for three months but is extendable to 180 days for extra fees.
• Proof of yellow fever vaccination must be provided.
• Proof of accommodation must be provided. This can come in form of a hotel reservation.
• Applicants are required to provide invitation letters.
• Currency restriction for entry into and exit out of Chad is 5 million CFA. Amounts over 5 million CFA must be declared.
• The Central African CFA franc (XAF) is the official currency. ATMs are unreliable so it is advised to carry enough cash.
• Exporting local currency is prohibited and the export of foreign currency is limited to the amount declared upon arrival.
• Mandatory police registration is required for all foreigners within 72 hours of arrival.
• First-time tourists must obtain a registration stamp through the National Police within 72 hours of arrival.
• Travelers in Chad are advised to avoid the following areas:
• The Lake Chad area, which shares a water border with Borno, Nigeria, a Boko Haram stronghold.
• The regions of Ennedi-Est, Ennedi-Ouest, Borkou, and Tibesti.
• The Presidential Palace Compound on Avenue Felix Eboue in N’Djamena (do not stop your vehicle in front of this compound and avoid driving by it at night).
• Foreigners are advised to carry a means of identification with them at all times.

• Thais traveling to Chad for business purposes should apply for the Chad business visa.
• A business letter from the applicant's company in Thailand or the host company in Chad should be provided.
• The letter should be printed on company letterhead and should be addressed to the Embassy of Chad.
• The letter should briefly introduce the applicant by specifying employment status/position held in the company by the applicant, the nature of the business to be conducted, the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Chad, the duration of stay and the sponsor of the trip.
• The business letter must state if the host in Chad will be financially responsible for the applicant during the duration of the required stay in Chad.
• A letter from the applicant’s employer in Thailand is required. The letter must state that the employer is aware of the trip the applicant is going on.
• Proof of sufficient funds must be provided. This should come in the form of a recent bank statement.
• If there has been a previous dealing between the companies, this should be indicated in a letter.
