Luxembourg Visitor Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Luxembourg visitor's visa is issued to Thais traveling to the country for tourism, visitation and business purposes.
  • The Luxembourg visitor's visa is a short stay visa which is also known as Type C visa or Schengen visa.
  • This visa is valid for 90 days.
  • If you are traveling for business purposes, you must provide the following:
    • Certificate of registration.
    • Tax forms.
    • Recent company bank statement.
    • Recent personal bank statement.
  • An invitation letter from the individual or company you will be meeting in Luxembourg must be provided. The purpose and duration of your trip should be included in this letter.
  • Applicants are required to provide a complete travel program for the entire duration of their stay in Luxembourg, including itinerary, dates and places to be visited.
  • Proof of sufficient financial means must be provided. This is to show that  you can support yourself financially during your stay in Luxembourg and for your return transportation.
  • You are required to provide a formal statement of your financial situation from your bank for the last 3 months and the statement must be signed by the bank manager.
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of your Income Tax Return papers for the last 2 years.
  • Proof of medical travel insurance valid in all the Schengen countries with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 must be provided.
  • It must cover costs for your emergency medical treatment or urgent hospitalization or transportation back to your home country if required and must cover the entire duration of your stay in Luxembourg.
  • If you are a minor under the age of 18 years and intend to travel alone to Luxembourg, you will have to provide a written consent from your parents or guardians who have your custody and it must be certified by a public notary. 
  • Currency restriction for entry into and exit out of Luxembourg is 10,000 Euros or equivalent.

Luxembourg Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Thais traveling to Luxembourg with the intention to work in the country should apply for a work visa.
  • This visa is known as a Type D visa.
  • To get a work visa for Luxembourg, you have to submit your application yourself, although your employer will usually help with this.
  • Applicants are required to apply to the Immigration Directorate for a temporary leave to stay in Luxembourg.
  • The temporary visa will allow you entry into Luxembourg so that you can complete the rest of the process once you arrive.
  • Application for a work permit is very necessary.  In general, work permits for Luxembourg will be issued for a  year. If you intend to stay beyond that point you are required to reapply.
  • A birth certificate must be provided by the applicant.
  • Applicants are required to provide proof of clean criminal record.
  • Your resume and professional qualifications are required.
  • An employment contract must be provided.
  • The original certificate allowing the employer to hire a third-country national is required.
  • Applicants should provide a cover letter explaining their motivation for moving to Luxembourg.

Luxembourg Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Thais looking to study in Luxembourg for more than 90 days are required to apply for a student visa.
  • The Luxembourg student visa is a long-term visa granted to students who have already been accepted for admission by a recognized higher educational institute in Luxembourg.
  • Applicants are required to obtain the student visa before entry into Luxembourg.
  • Before you apply for Luxembourg student visa, you must obtain a ‘temporary authorization to stay’ by applying to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg.
  • This temporary authorization to stay is valid for a period of 90 days only. You will have to apply for your student visa within this 90 day period.
  • Applicants are required to provide proof of being enrolled as a full-time student in one of Luxembourg’s institutions for higher education.
  • Proof of full payment of tuition fee for the course must also be provided by the applicant.
  • A medical insurance must be provided. This should cover the total number of days you will be staying in Luxembourg as a student The insurance must be valid for all Schengen countries for a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
  • Students are required to have 500 Euros monthly to cover their finances. 
  • A proof of accommodation should be submitted. This could be either a dormitory contract (signed between you and an official of a dormitory in the country where you will be staying) or rent Agreement (a contract with a property owner in this Schengen state, specifying the address and other information details about the facility and landlord).
