China’s economy has been one of the world’s fastest-growing with its annual growth rates consistently above 6 per cent. According to the World bank China’s GDP grew from $150 billion in 1978 to $12.24 trillion in 2017. In 2018, its GDP increased to $13.5 trillion (90 trillion yuan). Since 2010, China has been the country with the world’s second-largest economy by nominal GDP and the largest economy in the world by purchasing power parity in 2014.
China is also the world’s largest exporter and second-largest importer of goods and also the home to some of the world’s largest tech giants such as Huawei, Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba as it is the world’s most technologically advanced nation. Since 2019, China has the highest number of rich people in the world.

General Requirements for China Visa
China Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
The Chinese tourist visa (L visa) is issued to those who intend to visit China for tourism or leisure.
The Chinese tourist visa is categorized into three (3): Single Entry allows(30 - 60 days), double Entry allows(30 - 60 days)Multiple Entry allows multiple entries (6 months - 1 year)
In summary, the single-entry visa allows you to enter China once, the double-entry twice, while the multiple-entry visa allows you to leave and re-enter China multiple times during its validity.
The duration of stay (each visit) normally is 30-60 days for the single and double-entry visas.
The validity of the multiple-entry tourist visa is usually between 6 months to a year, depending on what the embassy decides. Sometimes, the double-entry visa can also be issued for up to 6 months at a higher cost.
Although the Tourist visa has a validity of 1 year, the duration of stay per entry is at the discretion of the embassy.
Proof of incentive of returning to Togo in the form of flight return ticket is mandatory.
Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation should be provided.
The single-entry tourist visa is the most common for Togolese travelling on the tourist visa to China.
Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicants' duration of stay.
The Double Entry Tourist Visa (2 entries, 30 days each), is also common.
Each time you enter China on any of these visa types, you can stay for a period between 30 to 60 days (the length of each visit is decided by the Chinese consulate issuing the visa).
Applicants under the age of 18 are to submit their original birth certificate with a consent letter written by each or both parents.
Applicants are advised to leave China before the expiration of their visa as overstaying your visa is a grave offence.
Proof of payment of visa application fee should be submitted.
China Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
The Chinese business visa also known as the M visa is issued to Togolese travelling to China with the intention of trade or business transactions. Foreigners in the country on this visa for business may negotiate and sign contracts with their business partners. Business travellers are free to attend conferences, business summits, and trade fairs while they are in the country. China M is issued for trade and business while the F visa is issued for non-commercial purposes. The M visa is for business and trade, while the F visa now applies to non-commercial travels. The validity period of the China M visa is three months (90 days) in most cases for Togolese. Just like the tourist visa, the M visa can be issued for single-entry, double-entry or multiple-entry. The M visa can be extended in individual circumstances but is solely dependent on the discretion of the Chinese embassy. A letter from your employer stating the awareness and allowance of your business leave. The letter should have the date of terms of your employment, how long you have been employed and the duration of your leave. An invitation letter from the Chinese company with a clear signature and stamp. The letter should have the purpose and duration of your visit to the country. Certificate of business registration of the Chinese company. Receipt of paid Chinese visa application fee is required. If you have had previous business dealings with the Chinese company, a proof of this should be presented during the China visa application process. For private business owners, a copy of their Income Tax Return for the last six months should be submitted. Vaccination from yellow fever and other communicable diseases is mandatory. Generally, China multiple-entry business visa cost more. In countries where there are CVASCs (Chinese Visa Application Service Centers), you need to pay both the visa fee and the service fee to the centre. Holders of the China Business Visa(s) are not allowed to be paid for the services they render while they are in the country.
China Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
Togolese with the intention of studying in any of the institutions in China are the applicants of this visa. Applicants can book an online appointment for this visa(e-visa) This visa is of two types; The X1 and X2 visas. X1 Visa is given to Togolese going to study in China for more than 6 months while the X2 visa is issued to Togolese to study for exactly 6 months. Students who apply for this visa are authorized to work part-time and apply for internships. Applicants travelling to China for research, lecture, scientific, cultural exchange and study tour can apply for the Non-Commerce Visa (F) which is normally issued for single or double entry. Togolese with the X1 visa must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit from the local Public Security Bureau within 30 days upon entry into China while the X2 visa holders do not need to apply for one. Applicants are to provide the JW201 (or JW202) form issued by the Chinese Ministry of Education (only necessary for the X1 Visa) and the notice of admission from your school. The JW201 / JW202 form is to be submitted at consulate or embassy during your application for the Chinese student visa (X visa). The type of student’s visa issued is at the discretion of the Chinese ministry of education The JW201 form is for those studying in China on a full scholarship while JW202 is for those studying in China by self-support or partial scholarship. Applicants are to submit of copy of their letter of admission from the institution they intend to study. The letter should clearly state the course you have been admitted to study and the duration of the program. Proof of good health in the form of medical certificate should be submitted. Any person suffering from a medical disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal disease, tuberculosis or other forms of infectious diseases will be refused entry into China. Proof of partial or full payment of tuition fee should be submitted. Only the single-entry visa will be issued to students. If you are under the age of 18 years, the original copy of your birth certificate should be provided. A notarized letter of consent signed by both your parents should be provided if you are travelling alone. Non-Togolese citizens are required to provide a copy of their stay permit in Togo. Receipt of paid visa of China application fee should be provided.
China Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements
The official visa of China is issued to foreigners who intend visiting China for official purposes. An official letter of invitation from the Chinese government should be provided. If the letter is signed by any other organization which is not part of the government, then the visit will not be defined as official. If the applicant is holding an ordinary passport, the type of visa that will be issued cannot be diplomatic or official. As a Togolese diplomat, if the purpose of your visit to China cannot be defined as official, you will not be issued this visa. A diplomatic note from the Togolese government should be provided. The note should clearly state information about the purpose of your visit, the duration of your visit and your status in the government. If you are travelling with a minor, you are required to possess the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate and a letter of consent from both parents Only the single-entry official visa will be issued to applicants.
