Entry Requirements

  • Visitors from Uganda can travel to India for a duration of 60 days by applying for an e-visa.
  • This e-visa costs about $80.
  • Prospective visitors are required to have a passport valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date of India. The passport should have at least two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • Travellers visiting with firearms require an Import Permit from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in India.
  • The import and export of India’s local currency are not permitted.
  • Also, the import and export of foreign currencies are unlimited, however, amounts exceeding $ 5,000 or its equivalent would be declared.
  • Tourists must show evidence of a confirmed means of accommodation for their entire stay in India. This could be in the form of a sponsor letter from a host living in the country or a hotel reservation.
  • Citizens of Uganda will be required to present a recent bank statement to show that they have enough money to spend while in India.
  • Tourists with pets (dogs and cats) must be accompanied by a veterinarian health certificate issued in Uganda.
  • A yellow fever vaccination is not required from citizens of Uganda. They are advised to be vaccinated against common illnesses before travelling to India.
  • Nationals of Uganda are required to have a return ticket to Uganda or onward destination.
  • Intending visitors can get to India from any international airport in Uganda. There are international airports in Entebbe and Kasese.
  • Etihad, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airways are some of the airlines that fly from Uganda to India.
