Tunisia Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Tunisian tourist visa is available for Ugandans looking to travel to Tunisia for tourism purposes.
  • The import of Tunisian currency is prohibited. Visitors must declare cash brought into Tunisia in excess of TND 10,000 (or foreign currency equivalent). They must also declare amounts above TND 5,000, if they wish to export that amount upon departure.
  • Travelers are not advised to travel to Tunisia due to safety reasons, but if you decide to go, adhere to the following:
    • Exercise caution when using public transportation, due to safety and security concerns.
    • Monitor local media for breaking events and be prepared to adjust your plans.
    • Avoid staying overnight outside of the main cities and tourist locations.
    • Obtain comprehensive medical insurance that includes medical evacuation.
  • Protests, demonstrations, and civil unrest can occur with little warning throughout the country. Travelers should avoid large crowds and demonstrations.
  • If you violate local Tunisian laws, even unknowingly, you may be arrested, imprisoned, or expelled from Tunisia.
  • Penalties for possessing, using, or trafficking in illegal drugs in Tunisia are severe, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and heavy fines.
  • You may be taken in for questioning if you don’t have your passport with you or if you take pictures of certain buildings.
  • It is against Tunisian law to photograph government offices and other security facilities.

  • The Tunisian business visa is issued to Ugandans traveling to Tunisia for business purposes.
  • Travelers are required to provide an invitation letter from the Tunisian company they are visiting.
  • This letter will also contain their detailed address, accompanied with the date and actual purpose of your trip.
  • If the intention is to attend a meeting or seminar, confirmation/invitation from the conference organizer/institution is required.
  • If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating or allowing your business travel.
  • A certificate of business registration of the company you are meeting with in Tunisia is required.
  • If you have had previous business dealings with the company you are meeting with, you are required to present proof of this.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover the costs of stay (e.g. bank statement for 2 recent months) is required.
  • Self-employed people may need to submit proof of business registration.
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
  • It must be made clear whether your trip will be sponsored by the employer or the local company.
  • Proof of payment of visa application fee should be submitted.
