General Requirements for Brazil Visa
Brazil Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Brazilian tourist visa is valid for 90 days.
- The Brazilian tourist visa is extendable. The extension has to be made at the federal police on arrival.
- You are expected to have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure.
- The passport must contain one blank page and must not be torn, separated or altered.
- The Brazilian application form should be written in Portuguese.
- The duration and extension of your stay must not exceed 180 days within one year period.
- A copy of your driver's license with address details as it appears on the application form is required.
- A recent notarized copy of a lease or notarized major utility bill (Water, Gas, Electric) showing the applicants name and current address is to be provided too.
- Travel insurance which covers the applicant during the duration of stay is to be provided.
- Holders of this visa can participate in conferences, seminars, or meetings, voluntary service or research activities, educational or academic extension.
- An original invitation letter from the organizing institution in Brazil is required from those intending to attend conferences and events.
- Holders can render professional services during the duration of their stay.
- Citizens of Vietnam who intend to travel to Brazil for a short period to perform sports/artistic activities can use a tourist visa.
- Holders of a tourist visa are allowed to receive prizes in Brazil, including cash prizes.
- Minors need to provide a copy of their birth certificate.
- A copy of round trip tickets or a letter signed by a travel agent is to be submitted.
- The flight itinerary should show exit and entry dates into and out of the country.
- A letter addressed to the "Consulate of Brazil, Visa Section" explaining exactly how, when, and where you will be entering and leaving Brazil is also one of the visa application requirements.
- Bank statements to prove that the traveler can handle all his expenses.
- Children between the ages of 3 months and 6 years need to provide a certificate of vaccination against Polio. If the child cannot be inoculated, a notarized letter from the child's physician is to be submitted.
- Travelers with pets are expected to submit an international health certificate issued by their vet doctor back home. Or a completed application form from the Ministry of Agriculture and a rabies vaccination certificate.
- Drug trafficking has severe penalties which include long prison sentences in a Brazilian prison.
- An international certificate of yellow fever is required.
Brazil Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- To legally work in Brazil, citizens of Vietnam need to have both a residence permit (either temporary or permanent) and a work visa (Autorizaçao de Trabalho).
- An employment letter is needed before you are granted a Brazilian work visa.
- The Brazilian work visa has two categories; temporary and permanent work visa.
- A temporary work visa is valid for only two years.
- Holders of a temporary work visa can stay in Brazil for a maximum of two years in Brazil. For an extension, the request has to be made not later than 30 days before the visa expiration.
- Only a two-year extension can be granted on a temporary work visa. After this four-year period, then the company can apply for a permanent work visa for their employee.
- Foreign workers cannot change their employers in Brazil without permission under a temporary work visa.
- The permanent work visa is granted to Vietnamese workers who are eligible for permanent residence in Brazil.
- Professional researchers or scientists (for activities exceeding a period of two years), investors (provided the investment sum exceeds US$ 50,000 for natural persons or US$ 200,000 for companies) and manager or directors can apply for a permanent work visa.
- All the documents to be approved by the Brazilian authorities have to be translated into Portuguese and signed before being submitted.
- Applicants with job offers from unregistered Brazilian company won't be issued work visas and work permits.
- Application has to be approved by the Brazil Ministry of labour.
- The employing company is responsible for performing all the formalities at the Ministry of Labour in Brazil for the work visa process after the ministry of labour approves.
- Work visas can only be processed at the Consular Section once a visa approval notice is issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Labour.
- A police certificate issued within the last 3 months, certifying the absence of a criminal record is needed.
- Minors have to provide a notarized consent letter signed by both parents
Brazil Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Foreign students are expected to have a student visa which allows them to attend regular courses or participate in exchange or internship programmes.
- The Brazilian student visa allows for a multiple entry basis.
- Citizens of Vietnam are allowed to take up legal employment in Brazil compatible with their course load.
- Foreign students are to submit documents that prove that they are financially sufficient.
- Applicants are to provide proof of payment of tuition fee.
- Proof of health insurance which covers the applicant during the duration of stay is to be submitted.
- Applicants applying for this visa are required to present a copy of their stay permit.
- Study programmes less than 90 days need a visitor’s visa instead.
- A letter of acceptance from the academic institution you have been accepted to is required. The letter should outline the nature of the study being undertaken in Brazil.
- Your police certificate certifying the absence of criminal record should not be more than three months old.
- Minors are required to have their original birth certificate accompanied with a letter of consent signed by both their parents.
- A receipt that shows the payment of visa application fee has been made.
- The student visa is extendable within six months if the duration of their study is going to be longer.
