Basic Travel Requirements for Vietnameses visiting Luxembourg

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Luxembourger Visa.

  • A complete and signed visa application form.

Luxembourg Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Luxembourg tourist visa is applied for and issued to those who intend to go to the country for tourism and leisure.
  • People with the intention to attend business meetings and conferences are also issued this visa.
  • Applicants are expected to get a Schengen visa. This is a short-stay visa that allows a stay of up to 90 days during a period of 180 days from the application date. 
  • You must apply for the visa of the country that is your primary destination during your stay i.e. Luxembourg.
  • Applicants are expected to have a valid passport that must have been issued in not more than ten years from the application period. It should also be valid for at least 3 months from the application date.
  • One or more passport photos are also required along with the application form. The photos must have been taken within 6 months to the application period.
  • The visa can be issued for single entry or multiple entries. Travelers are allowed to travel to other Schengen countries while their visa is valid.
  • For persons under the age of 18 who intend to travel alone, a written consent the applicant's parents or guardians should be provided. It must be certified by a public notary. 
  • If you intend to travel with only one parent, a written consent from the other parent or guardian is required.
  • Tourist visas for children between 6 to 12 years of age cost EUR 35. Children below that age do not need a visa to travel.       
  • Applicants are expected to have their valid individual medical travel insurance for use in Luxembourg. 
  • A letter stating the purpose of the applicant's trip to Luxembourg should be provided. Applicants are also expected to include details such as date of entry, date of exit and travel itinerary.
  • Applicants going to Luxembourg for the purpose of business should have an invitation letter from the individual host or host company in Luxembourg.
  • Applicants must provide proof of sufficient financial means to support themselves financially during their stay in Luxembourg and for their return transportation. 
  • For tourists, this can be in form of their letter of employment, salary slips for at least 6 months, recent bank statements or pension slips (For retired applicants).
  • For businessmen or businesswomen, this can be in the form of their certificate of registration, tax forms, recent company bank statement or recent personal bank statement.

Luxembourg Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to foreigners who have been employed in a company in Luxembourg. It is issued as a long-stay visa and is a residence permit. 
  • Non-EU nationals must have a work permit, usually applied for by their potential employer, to be legally entitled to work in the country. This should be gotten before a residence permit or long-stay visa.
  • It is recommended that application for a work permit be submitted several months before the start of work. 
  • For work in Luxembourg, the employing company has to prove to the Ministry of Labour that a local cannot take up the position offered to the foreigner and also defend the foreigner's qualifications.
  • Applicants are required to provide evidence that their employer has applied for a work permit for them. This should also include the applicant's job description, approved contract, and contract duration. 
  • Applicants must have a valid original passport with at least 3 months' validity beyond the planned duration of stay in the country. 
  • It is required that applicants provide close to 6 passport photos for the application process. The photos should match the passport photo size requirement.
  • Applicants should provide certificates of identification such as a legalized birth certificate or legalized copies of marriage or divorce certificates.
  • If you're self-employed, evidence of eligibility to practice your trade in the country or a professional card is required. You must obtain permission from the Ministry of Small Businesses to work in the country. 
  • Note that visas cannot be obtained or changed once the applicant is in Luxembourg.

Luxembourg Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to people who intend to study in Luxembourg. This visa is also issued as a long-stay visa.
  • A residence permit is required alongside the long term visa.
  • There has to be evidence of the applicant's admission to an approved educational establishment in Luxembourg.
  • Applicants must provide proof of being enrolled as full-time students in any of Luxembourg institutions for higher education.
  • Applicants are to provide an original birth certificate and any other means of identification with their country of origin.
  • A medical certificate from a credible health organization in the origin country should also be provided. There should also be certified health insurance for the duration of stay. 
  • Applicants are to submit a police report stating they have no criminal record. 
  • Documents of academic achievements and school-leaving certificates should be provided to corroborate other documents submitted. 
  • A document reflecting financial support from a sponsor or stability on the part of the student should also be submitted. There should be a bank statement backing this up. 
  • There should be proof of full payment of tuition fees for the course of study.

Luxembourg Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to applicants who want to transit through Luxembourg to another country.
  • This visa type is also a Schengen visa. It allows you to transit through Schengen countries or from one Schengen country to a non-Schengen territory/country.
  • There are two types of this visa- the type-A and the type-B visas. 
  • The Type A visa is called the Airport transit visa and the Type B visa is called the Transit visa.
  • The Type A visa is for transit through the international zone of an airport. The visa does not allow access to the Schengen territory.
  • The Type B visa allows the holder to pass through one or more Schengen states to get to another state. The necessary duration for this transit cannot exceed 5 days.
  • Applicants of this visa cannot take up paid employment in the country.
