Basic Travel Requirements for Vietnameses visiting Romania

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Romanian Visa.


  • A duly completed visa application form.
  • An original passport with two blank pages for visa stamps.
  • Two 30 mm x 40 mm passport-sized photographs.
  • A bank statement not older than 3 months showing a sufficient flow of funds for the duration of your stay in the country.
  • Accommodation proof via hotel reservation for the whole duration of the intended stay in Romania or a host's residential address.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.
  • Proof of civil status and ties with the origin country such as a birth or marriage certificate.
  • A criminal record or any other document of equivalent legal value issued by the authorities in Vietnam.
  • Valid travel insurance.
  • A birth certificate attested by the Ministry of External Affairs in Vietnam for minors. 
  • Documents showing your purpose of stay.
  • Proof of having sufficient and appropriate means of staying in the country.
  • A return ticket to Vietnam or onward ticket to another country.

Romania is known for its fortified churches and castles. The most popular of these castles is the clifftop, Brahms Castle. The castle is often referred to as being Dracula’s castle. "Dracula’s Castle” is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists yearly. Another popular destination in the country is the Carpathian Mountains, which are popular for trekking, skiing, climbing, and bathing in natural thermal spas. The trend of tourist activities in the country shows that the number of tourists visiting the country has steadily been on the rise. In 2016, about 9.33 million tourists visited the country. In the first quarter of 2018, about 3.12 million tourists visited the country.
 
Avoid taking photographs of airports and military bases without seeking permission from the appropriate authorities.
 
Citizens of countries that require a Romanian visa can gain entry into the country with a Schengen visa. Nationals of Andorra, Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela can gain visa-free entry for a period of 90 days in a 180-day period.

Frequently Asked Questions


When can I apply for Romanian visa?

It is recommended that applicants apply for their short-stay visas one month before the travel date and for their long-stay visas two months before the travel date. Please note that visa applications would not be accepted earlier than 90 days before the travel date.


How much financial support should I have while in Romania?

Those on a short-stay visa are expected to have a minimum of 50 euros per day but not less than 500 euros per 10 days. For those on long-stay visas, they should have proof of possessing the minimum gross wage in Romania and this should be for the entire validity of the visa.


In what time-frame can my police report be issued?

Applicants are expected to have their police report issued to them within 6 months to their travel date. Certificates issued after 6 months are regarded invalid.
