Basic Travel Requirements for Zambians visiting Greenland

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Greenlandic Visa.

  • Properly filled visa application form.
  • Original Zambian passport with at least 6 months validity beyond the date of travel.
  • One passport size photo taken on a white background, and within the last 6 months. 
  • Copy of travel itinerary showing exact dates of travel.
  • An original letter from your employer/school (on business letterhead, with contact details), stating that a leave of absence has been granted and that you will be returning to your current job. 
  • The employment letter must be addressed to the Greenland High Commission.
  • Business license and tax return for self employed persons. 
  • If you are retired,  submit proof of your retirement fund.
  • A copy of confirmed hotel reservations including the name of the applicant, name, and address of the hotel and duration of stay.
  • Original or copy of bank statements for the 3 months. It should contain the full address and name of the applicant, bank transactions and salary. 
  • The final balance needs to be at least £500 and must show that there are sufficient funds to pay the cost of the accommodation if not yet paid at the time of submitting the application.
  • Travel insurance (all-risk medical travel insurance) clearly showing the applicant’s name has to be valid throughout the complete territory of the Schengen Area and must cover the entire period of the applicant’s intended stay in Greenland. 
  • The minimum coverage for a medical emergency is €30,000.
  • All original documents have to be presented together with a photocopy. The Embassy will not return original documents if photocopies are not supplied.
  • All supporting documents must not be older than 1 month unless otherwise specified above.

Greenland Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to persons who are going to Greenland for business opportunities.
  • It is also for those transferring from a company in Zambia to a branch in Greenland.
  • An invitation letter from the company you will be visiting in Greenland and their detailed address accompanied with the dates of your visit to Greenland is required.
  • A certificate from your employer stating the allowance of your business travel to Greenland should be submitted.
  • Your job position and salary level should also be stated in the letter.
  • If there have been previous trade relations between the two companies, proof of such events must be provided.
  • You are to provide your personal bank statements for the last 6 months and that of your company if you are self-employed.
  • Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint-stock companies), trade license (first issued and present renewal) and proprietorship/partnership documents are to be provided.
  • Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in Greenland, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses in the letter or invitation.
  • You must own a work permit to work in Greenland as failure to do so might cause you and your employer to face criminal charges.

Greenland Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa type is for Zambians who have been offered admission in Greenland and are willing to study in any of the academic institutions in Greenland.
  • You must provide an enrollment certificate allowing attendance of courses.
  • A certificate of courses to be attended is to be provided.
  • You are to submit proof of financial sustenance for your entire stay in Greenland.
  • If you want to work as a student in Greenland, you have to acquire a residence permit.
  • You must have submitted your application at least 2 months before your degree starts and will await a reply about 60 days or thereabout.
  • If you fill the application form online, you and your university will have to complete a part of the form or you can choose to fill it in person and submit at the embassy.
  • You will have to appear at the embassy to do a visa interview and your biometrics.
  • This visa is renewable yearly.
  • If you decide to remain in Greenland after your degree, you will have to apply for a different visa or apply through the immigration office.
  • You do not require a health insurance plan or medical tests to apply for a Greenish student visa.
