Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Austrian Visa.
- A duly filled Schengen visa application form.
- An original passport with two blank pages for visa stamps.
- The passport must be valid for six months after entry into Austria.
- Two recent and identical passport-sized photographs with a white background.
- Medical insurance with a minimum of 30,000 euros.
- Proof of financial sustenance of the applicant which may be in the form of bank statements and payslips.
- Confirmed hotel reservation or other accommodation options.
- Travel itinerary.
- Bank receipt proving payment of visa application fees.
- A copy of the reservation of the flight ticket.
- A bank statement that is valid for six months.
- Return ticket to Zimbabwe.

Austria Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The tourist visa for Austria is issued as a Short-stay Schengen visa.
- This is also referred to as the Type-C visa and is issued to those who want to travel to Austria for tourism, business, visit or other short-term activities.
- The Type “C” Visa is issued for a fixed time not exceeding 90 days per period of six months from the first entry.
- This country is one of the Schengen territories and visas issued to this territory are referred to as Schengen visas.
- You are expected to submit a passport or other travel document issued within the last 10 years.
- The passport must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for at least another 3 months after the departure date from Austria.
- In the case where other people would be traveling on one person's passport or travel document, each person traveling must submit their visa forms.
- When submitting the application form, your fingerprints will be taken and these will remain valid for 5 years.
- Children under the age of 12 do not need to have their fingerprints taken.
- Short Term visas for children going on tourism (Between 6 - 12 years) cost £35 and Short Term visas for children going on tourism (Between 0 - 6 years) are FREE.
- Persons with a Schengen tourist visa are forbidden to work while in the country.
- There should be a description of the trip and the purpose of traveling written down in a letter.
- An Income Tax Returns document and a bank statement dating back to three months are required for submission at the embassy.
Austria Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The student visa is issued as a Long-stay visa.
- This is referred to as the National Long-stay “D” visa. It allows foreigners to stay in Austria for a period longer than a year.
- The Consulate of Austria requires applicants to apply for student visas directly.
- A personal appearance may be necessary at the representation of Austria in Zimbabwe.
- The student's passport must be signed and should have two blank passport pages for an Austria student visa
- The student's status letter/admission from your university faculty is to be submitted with one photocopy.
Austria Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Austrian work visa is issued as a Long-stay visa.
- The criteria for approval of an employment visa include:
- Suitable educational qualifications or work experience.
- A secured employment contract in Austria.
- Proof of adequate means of subsistence in Austria
- Police confirmation that you have no criminal record
- A satisfactory medical examination.
- You are to attach proof of your academic qualification such as grade’s transcription and certificates.
- Applicants should also bring proof of their language knowledge.
- The applicant's employment contract which has been signed by the employer would be requested at the embassy.
- A cover letter explaining the purpose of your visit to the Schengen country is also required.
- Note that the embassy might request for more documents than the aforementioned.
- There should be a signed note from the hiring company stating their intended sponsorship of the employed applicant.
Austria Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to people who want to go through Austria to another country.
- There are two types of transit visa: Type-A and Type-B transit visa.
- The Type-A visa is the airport transit visa that is valid for only 24 hours.
- The Type-B visa is a transit visa that is valid for not more than 5 days.
- The Type-A visa allows applicants to stay in the international zone of Austria until they are connected to their flight.
- Holders of the transit visa are not permitted to enter the country.
- The Type-B visa allows applicants to stay in Austria for a few days before they connect to their destination country.
- Travelers on this visa are not allowed to stay beyond the validity period or do activities peculiar to other visa types in Austria.
- The applicant's travel arrangement would also be requested.
