Basic Travel Requirements for Zimbabweans visiting Hungary
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Hungarian Visa.
- Download the application form, fill it completely and with sincerity. You can also fill the Hungary Schengen Visa application form electronically and then print a hard-copy.
- 2 photos must be attached; the photo should be of passport format – a recent whole-face capture with a light background.
- Your passport and copies of your previous visas – valid for at least 3 months beyond return date – are required. Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
- A copy of your return-ticket reservation. It is not recommended to purchase the ticket before obtaining the visa – if not otherwise required.
- Travel visa insurance confirmation of minimum €30,000 coverage within Hungary and the entire Schengen area.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of visit to Hungary.
- Travel itinerary.
- Flight air ticket reservation with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Hungary.
- Hotel booking reservation for the whole duration of the intended stay in Hungary.
- Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable).
- Means of subsistence – Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay in Hungary.

Hungary Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Foreigners who intend to travel to Hungary for tourism, sightseeing, and other leisure activities require a Hungarian tourist visa. This visa grants a stay of not more than 90 days in the country.
- One visa application form must be fully and accurately completed. An incomplete visa application form will not be accepted and you will have to make a new appointment.
- You are advised to make use of the online application and then make an appointment to submit because applicants who apply online and make an appointment will be attended to first.
- You must submit your visa application form in person as your fingerprints will be captured unless you are under the age of 12.
- 1 recent clear and colored passport-size photograph, with a white or grey background must be submitted with your application form. You are not to staple the photo to the form.
- Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the approved duration of your stay in Hungary and have at least two blank visa pages. If you have been issued a new visa within the last 3 years, you are to provide the original copy of your previous passport.
- You are to make photocopies of the personal data page of your passport with all visas in it and your national identity card.
- You must provide proof of hotel accommodation in Hungary for the entire duration of your stay, such as a confirmed hotel booking clearly showing the name and contact details of the hotel.
- A tour itinerary of your planned trip showing your schedule of activities, places you plan to visit and how long you intend to stay in Hungary should be submitted.
- You should also provide a printout of your air travel itinerary. However, do not book a flight ticket yet so as not to incur a financial loss in case you have to return it.
- To show that you can finance your whole trip and have at least 100 HUF or 92.34 USD to spend per day, you are to provide proof of financial sufficiency. This could be your recent payslips and your bank account statements for the last 3 months.
- If you are an employee, you are to provide proof of your employment in the form of a signed and dated employment contract, showing your data and the contact details of your employer as well as a leave of absence letter and the date you are to return to work.
- If you are self-employed, you should submit proof of business certification such as the Business License and the company's certified bank account statements for the last three months.
- If you are a student, you must provide a letter from your school containing your name and your parents' names, the date you were enrolled, your present class, a leave of absence from the school, school holidays and the contact details and name of the school representative.
- If you are retired, you must provide proof that you are receiving a pension or other financial support.
Hungary Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Business travelers are the main applicants of this visa.
- With this visa, applicants can visit the country to engage in various business activities.
- During your time in the country with your business partners, you can negotiate and sign business contracts, attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits.
- An invitation letter from the company you are meeting should be provided. The letter should entail the company’s address, the duration of your visit, as well as the purpose of your visit to the country.
- The responsibility of applicants' expenses should be stated if it would be taken up by the employer or the partner company.
- A letter from your employer stating awareness and allowance of your business leave should be provided. The letter should include the duration and purpose of your visit to Hungary.
- Proof of previous business dealings with the company should be provided if any.
- The certificate of business registration of the company should be provided.
- You are not permitted to be paid for the services you render in the country.
- Foreigners in the country with this visa cannot seek public funds.
- Non-Zimbabweans should ensure they have a copy of their stay permit in Zimbabwe.
- Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
- Zimbabweans are expected to exit the country at the expiration of their visas.
- Invitation letter from the Hungarian company you will be visiting and their detailed address accompanied with the dates of your visit
- A certificate from your employer stating/allowing your business travel
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies, proof of such events must be provided
- Business bank statement of the last 6 months
- Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint-stock companies) Trade License (first issued and present renewal), Proprietorship/Partnership documents
- Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in the Schengen zone, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation.
Hungary Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Foreigners who have this visa may transit through the country to their final destination.
- This visa allows you to join a connecting flight from Hungary to your destination country.
- You are not allowed to be in the country for more than 24 hours with this visa.
- You should be in possession of the visa and the confirmed flight ticket of your destination country.
- You cannot visit friends and relatives with this visa or tour the country.
- If you are traveling with a minor, a letter of consent from the minor’s parents should be provided.
- You can be accompanied by your spouse or minors.
- For non-Zimbabweans, a Zimbabwean stay permit will be requested.
