Basic Travel Requirements for Zimbabweans visiting Italy

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Italian Visa.

  • A duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • A Zimbabwean passport valid for at least 6 months after the intended arrival date.

Italy Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued as a short-stay visa to applicants who want to enter Italy for purposes such as tourism, business, and other short term purposes.
  • Foreigners wishing to enter Italy for short-stays can do so by obtaining a Schengen Visa to Italy.
  • This visa is usually issued for one, two or multiple entries and it is valid for 90 days within a 180-days period.
  • The applicant's passport should have a validity of 6 months from the date of departure.
  • Applicants are required to submit their personal bank statements for the application.
  • During the visa application, you will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay.
  • For business travelers, an official invitation letter from the Italian company should be provided. The letter must be written on the company’s letterhead and must state the duration and the purpose of the visit.
  • If the traveler's trip is sponsored by their company of employment, a letter from your employer in Zimbabwe should be provided. The letter should state the applicant’s job position and length of employment.
  • Holders of this visa are prohibited from enrolling in any of Italy's institutions of learning to take up a course of study.
  • Fake documents will result in you being disqualified for this visa.
  • You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires.

  • This visa is issued to people who want to work in Italy for a period of time.
  • Applicants of this visa need to get a work permit first.
  • Finding jobs in Italy can be easier than in other European countries.
  • Zimbabwe nationals wishing to live and work in Italy can also apply for a Working Holiday Visa.
  • Work permits must be applied for by the employer.

  • A Zimbabwean who wants to pursue an educational course in Italy for more than 90 days will have to obtain a student visa.
  • The Italy student visa is a long-term visa granted to students who have already been accepted for admission by a recognized higher educational institute in Italy.
  • Student visas in Italy are issued by Italian Embassies and consular posts in a student's country of origin or permanent residence. 
  • All non-EU students are required to obtain a student visa prior to entering Italy.

  • Applicants of this visa type usually need a connecting flight from Italy to the destination country.
  • Visa and flight ticket of the destination country should be presented.
  • If you are a member of a crew ship going from the port in Zimbabwe to another country and you need to transit through Italy, this is the visa type for you.
  • If you are traveling with someone less than 18 years of age, an original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required.
  • Travelers should ensure that they have a valid medical insurance document.
  • With this visa type, you cannot visit anyone.
  • It is valid for just 24 hours. Once you leave the country, the visa ceases to be valid.
  • The processing fee for the visa is €60.
