Basic Travel Requirements for Zimbabweans visiting Portugal

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Portuguese Visa.

  • A valid passport with at least 3 months validity and at least 2 blank pages for visa stamps.
  • Two recent passport photographs that follow the format of a Portugal visa should be provided. The photo should also be on a light background.
  • A copy of the applicant's return ticket is needed.
  • A bank statement dating back to at least 6 months must be submitted so as to show that you can financially sustain yourself for the duration of stay.
  • Children below the age of 12 are not required to go to the embassy for the interview.
  • Applicants should ensure that they have a copy of the correctly filled and signed visa application form.
  • Travel insurance.
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of stay must be provided.
  • A detailed copy of the travel itinerary.
  • If the trip is sponsored by a friend or relative in Portugal, then an invitation letter is needed.
  • Applicants below the age of 18 years must provide a copy of their birth certificate and a consent letter from parents.

Portugal Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Schengen tourist visa is for foreigners with the intention of visiting Portugal for sightseeing, adventures, and vacations.
  • Portugal is part of the Schengen Area which is made up of 26 European countries, so a Schengen visa is required. 
  • The Schengen C-type visa is valid in Schengen states and it entitles the holder to stay in the territory of all Schengen states.
  • This visa is applicable for the purposes of visiting Portugal but the purpose of the visit must be clearly stated on the visa.
  • Travelers are required to provide proof of travel medical insurance confirmation of a minimum of €30,000 coverage within Portugal and the entire Schengen area.
  • Travelers need to have at least £53 per day to cover financial stability for the duration of the stay.
  • Tourists are required to register with Portuguese Immigration Service within three days of entering Portugal. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in an administrative offense punishable with a fine from €60 to €160.
  • Applicants of this visa who are visiting someone in Portugal are required to submit a letter of invitation from their host.
  • Proof of accommodation must be provided, e.g, hotel reservations. It is advised that you should not make your hotel reservations before your visa is approved. 
  • If you are employed, a letter from your employer should be provided. The letter must be printed on the company’s letterhead and must confirm the awareness of your leave.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to engage in business activities during their time in the country.
  • It is valid for 90 days.

Portugal Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Portuguese business visa enables foreigners to visit Portugal to engage in business activities.
  • While you are in the country with this visa, you can meet up with business partners for meetings and to negotiate and sign contracts.
  • You can also attend trade fairs, conferences, and business summits while you are in the country.
  • An invitation letter from the company you will be visiting in Portugal should be provided. The address of the company and the dates of your visit should be stated in the letter.
  • If the company you are meeting with in Portugal will be responsible for your expenses while you are in the country, it should be stated in the letter.
  • A letter from your employer in Zimbabwe stating awareness and allowance of your business travel for the duration of your time in the country.
  • If the applicant of this visa has been in business with this company before, proof of such events must be provided.
  • A certificate of business registration of your business partner in Portugal is required.
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.

Portugal Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Portuguese student visa is for foreign students who have the intention of studying in a school in Portugal.
  • Before you start the visa application process, you must make sure you are accepted into one of the educational institutions in Portugal.
  • A letter of acceptance from the institution in Portugal should be provided. The letter must be printed on the institution’s letterhead and must state the course the applicant will be studying.
  • An extension of this visa can be granted to cover the duration of your program in the country.
  • Once a student applies for a long-stay student visa, a residence permit will need to be applied for upon arrival in Portugal from the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF).
  • Certain documents should be provided by the applicant, these documents must confirm enrollment, state type and length of courses to be taken in Portugal.
  • Applicants of this visa should be in possession of certificates and transcripts they obtained from the schools previously attended.
  • Proof of confirmed accommodation from the inviting institution if on-campus or confirmed hotel reservations, stating name, address and telephone number of the hotel, including confirmation number are required.
  • Proof that you can sufficiently finance your stay in Portugal must be provided. 
  • It is important that you have at least 38 Euros per day to cover your daily expenses in Portugal.
