  • Visa is granted on arrival for holders of a copy of a pre-arranged approval from immigration.
  • On presentation of the pre-arranged approval  at the border checkpoint of Ghana the traveler is then issued a visa on arrival.
  • This visa is valid for a maximum total of 30 days  within a one-year period.
  • Alongside the printed confirmation,  a visa will be issued upon arrival to the traveler and he/she must also have a return/ onward ticket from Ghana.
  • A proof of hotel accommodation is also needed as well as an international certificate of vaccination.
  • Algerians visiting Ghana are required to provide a passport with at least six months of validity and at least two blank pages for stamps on arrival and departure from Ghana. 
  • The standard voltage in Ghana is  220/240 volts.  Any other electrical equipment using 110/120 should be dual voltage,  have  a switch or you will need a “step down” voltage converter.  Plugs used in Ghana are the type G. 
  • In Ghana, wearing military clothing including camouflage is prohibited.

  • Credit cards are accepted at many hotels, guesthouses and some shops, but MasterCard is not widely accepted. Travelers’ cheques can be exchanged in large hotels, banks and bureaux de change too.
  • The Ghanaian cedi is the unit of currency of Ghana. It is the fourth historical and only current legal tender in the Republic of Ghana. One cedi is divided into one hundred pesewas.
  • Overstaying without the proper authority can lead to detention or refused permission to leave the country until a fine is paid.
