Iraq Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to foreign nationals who have the intention of visiting Iraq for the purpose of leisure and recreation.
  • This visa type allows foreigners to attend religious events and visit holy sites in Iraq.
  • The tourist visa allows foreign nationals to visit their friends or relatives who are residents of the country.
  • If you will be visiting someone in Iraq, a letter of invitation from your host in the country should be provided.
  • The letter must state the address and valid contact information of the host. The letter should be accompanied by the residence permit of the host.
  • Holders of this visa are allowed to visit and stay in Iraq for one month.
  • Foreigners traveling in tourist groups can apply for this visa through tourism companies in the work area of the Mission in coordination with a licensed tourism company in Iraq.
  • Within 10 days of your arrival in Iraq, you are required to declare your arrival at the Directorate of residence.
  • Algerians are required to have a visa before they can be allowed to enter the country.
  • Supporting document which clearly indicates the reason for the applicant’s visit to Iraq should be provided.
  • Applicants of this visa must provide proof that they have a clean criminal record.
  • Those who are visiting Iraq must provide a medical certificate which shows that they do not have any health issued which are considered hazardous for residents of the country.
  • Relevant records must be checked to ensure that there is no pending order to deport or refuse the applicant entry to Iraq.
  • Children under the age of 15 years are required to provide a health certificate which proves that they have been vaccinated against polio.
  • You are expected to leave the country on or before this visa expires.

Iraq Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to business travelers who have the intention of engaging in business activities during their time in Iraq.
  • Business travelers are required to have a valid passport. The passport must have one blank page and must not be frayed, torn, separated or altered in any way.
  • With this visa, foreigners can attend trade fairs, conferences, and seminars in Iraq.
  • If you will be attending ay of the above events, proof of registration which guarantees the attendance of the event should be provided.
  • An official invitation from the Iraqi company you will be visiting is required. The letter must be duly signed by an authorized worker in the company.
  • A letter from the visa applicant’s employer in Algeria stating the reason and duration of the business trip to Iraq should be provided.
  • If the responsibility of the applicant’s finances will be taken up by either the host company or the sponsoring company, it should be clearly stated in the business letter.
  • The business letter is required by the Consulate of Iraq to support the application of the vis applicant.
  • Foreigners are requested to provide HIV test results on arrival to the country. The test result must be certified by the consular section of the Iraqi Embassy in your home country.
  • This visa type is valid for 90 days and can be extended in Iraq.
  • You are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment with this visa.
  • This visa does not serve study purposes. Taking up part-time or full-time courses in the country is prohibited.
  • The visa processing time varies between 3 – 4 weeks depending on when the consulate receives the approval. Once the approval has been received, issuing of a visa takes between 2 to 4 days.
  • The visa fee paid by applicants cannot be refunded once it has been received the consulate.
  • A copy of a criminal record clearance certificate which indicates that the applicant has not been accused or convicted for a crime committed outside Iraq.
