Equatorial Guinea Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Equatorial Guinea tourist visa is issued to Angolans with the intention of traveling to the country for tourism purposes.
  • Contact details of the agent and hotel in Equatorial Guinea must be provided by the applicant.
  • A certificate of good conduct issued by the local authority of residence is required and will have a validity of 6 months from the date of issuance.  The certificate will be in English, French or Spanish.
  • An invitation letter duly formalized by the Immigration authorities of Equatorial Guinea containing the applicant’s name and passport number must be provided. The letter will have a validity of 3 weeks after issuance.
  • Proof of vaccination for yellow fever and polio required. A polio booster dose is required for those who have completed the normal series of the polio vaccine.
  • It is increasingly common to be asked for proof of vaccination upon entry, and immigration officials may require you to be vaccinated at the airport (potency and sterility of items is always questionable) or bar entry into the country for those who do not comply with the requirements.
  • Take taxis only in groups, use taxi drivers personally known to you, or avoid taxis altogether, especially in Bata. Be mindful of how much cash you have in your possession when entering a taxi and try to avoid carrying large sums of cash.
  • Emergency travel documents (ETDs) aren’t valid for entry into Equatorial Guinea but ETDs are accepted for exit from Equatorial Guinea.
  • Equatorial Guinea is almost exclusively a cash economy. Generally, credit cards and checks are not accepted with the exception of a few Western hotels that cater to international business travelers.
  • Credit card cash advances are not available. Most local businesses do not accept travelers' checks, dollars, or euros. However, dollars can be exchanged at local banks for Central African Francs (CFA). Cash in CFA is usually the only form of payment accepted throughout the country.

  • Applicants are also required to provide a bank statement.
  • The bank statement is a mandatory document and it should meet the following criteria:
    • It must reflect sufficient balance in the savings bank account.
    • It must be original and should have the bank's stamp and signature on every page.
  • A letter of invitation from the host company in Equatorial Guinea must be provided.
  • The letter of invitation from the company submitted should match the following criteria:
    • It must contain the signature of the authority along with the designation, name of the company and the stamp.
    • It must mention the contact details, the purpose of travel, sponsorship details and other important documents.
    • It must be addressed to the respective diplomatic mission.
