The Marshall Islands are a group of atolls and reefs in the Pacific Ocean, about half-way between Hawaii and Australia. The Marshall Islands consist of two island chains of 30 atolls and 1,152 islands, of low coral limestone and sand. Foreigners traveling to the Marshall Islands are expected to declare sums amounting to $10,000 or its equivalent in any currency on entry into or exit from the country. Homosexuality is illegal in the country and public displays of affection between same-sex partners may offend locals.
 
Citizens of American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau and the United States are allowed visa-free entry for an unlimited period of time. Nationals of any European Union state within the Schengen Area may enter the Marshall Islands visa-free for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

Marshall Islands Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Angolans with the intention of visiting the Marshall Islands for recreation, relaxation, and sight-seeing are eligible for this visa.
  • Angolans visiting the Marshall Islands can also attend festivals and events of their choice during their duration of stay in the country.
  • Applicants are expected to provide a passport with six months validity. 
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs are to be provided.
  • Before Angolans applying for a tourist visa are granted an approval, they must have gotten an invitation letter from a host living in Marshall Islands. 
  • The letter of invitation has to include the host's contact information and state the relationship between the applicant and the host.   
  • A  proof of a hotel reservation must be provided if an applicant is not staying with a family or relative in the Marshall Islands.
  • A letter from the applicant’s employer is required. The letter should state awareness and allowance of the applicant’s leave. The duration of the trip should also be stated in the letter.
  • Applicants should ensure they are in possession of the copy of their  Angolan residence permit.
  • Minors are expected to provide a copy of their birth certificate showing the name of both parents. A notarized consent is required if you will be travelling with one or none of your parents.
  • Applicants with a criminal record are not allowed entry to Marshall Islands. 
  • A  yellow fever certificate of vaccination is to be provided.  
  • A medical certificate from a reputable hospital stating that you are free from HIV and TB is also needed.
  • Applicants may be required to provide proof that they intend to leave the Marshall Islands at the expiration of their visa.
  • Evidence that the visa application fee has been paid may also be asked.
  • Holders of this type of visa are not permitted to take up employment during their time in the country.
  •  The duration of stay for a tourist visa is for 30 days but can be extended for up to 60 days once you are in the Marshall Islands.
  • All travelers are expected to have an onward or return tickets. Although the citizens of Micronesia, Palau Islands and the United States of America may not need to have onward or return tickets.
  • Travelers are allowed free import of 454 grammes of cigars or tobacco or 600 cigarettes.
  • Travelers who are aged 21 year old are not allowed to bring  in  two liters of alcoholic drink into Marshall Islands. 

Marshall Islands Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  •  Angolans who wish to travel to Marshall Islands for business are eligible for a Marshall Islands business visa.  
  • Holders of this visa type are allowed to negotiate and sign contracts during business meetings with their partners.
  • Angolans who have applied for this type of visa can also attend conferences, business summits and trade fairs while in the country on this visa.
  • Applicants who intend to attend conferences during their stay in the Marshall Islands are expected to register before arrival to Marshall Islands. 
  •  The applicant has to provide a letter from his employer in the home country during the application process.  The letter should state the applicant’s job status, the length of employment and the duration of the applicant’s visit is needed.
  • An official letter of invitation from the host company is required. The letter should be written on the company’s letterhead and should state the nature of the business to be carried out in the country.
  • The business letter should also state who would be sponsoring the applicant’s stay. If the host company or the sponsoring company will be responsible for the applicant’s finances in the Marshall Islands, a document should be provided as proof. 
  • A proof of previous business transactions between the host company and the sponsoring company should be provided, if any exist.
  • A receipt for visa full payment is to be provided.
  • Documents which show that the applicant has the incentive of returning to Kenya is required.
  • The vaccination certificate of the applicant has to be up to date.
  • Minors are required to submit the original copy of their birth certificate. A letter of consent signed by both the minor’s parents should be provided.
  • Foreigners cannot receive payment for the services they render while they are in the country on this visa.
  • The Business Visa (B-1) is for individuals with approved FIBL (Foreign Investment Business License). 
  • On exit from the Marshall Islands, Angolans are to pay a departure fee of $20. Children under the age of 12 and adults over the age of 60 are exempt from this requirement.
  • Applicants have to declare their bank statements to prove their financial capability.
