Basic Travel Requirements for Cameroonians visiting Canada

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Canadian Visa.

  • A Cameroonian passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry and one page required for visa stamp. 
  • A fully completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents are to sign the application form. 
  • Two colored passport-size photographs (50 x 70cm) taken on a white background.
  • Travel document must be completely provided.
  • A document that serves as a proof of your financial capability. 
  • A proof of accommodation/hotel reservations.
  • Copy of return flight ticket.
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country.
  • A police report to prove you don’t have any criminal record.
  • Medical insurance that covers the duration of stay.
  • The documents showing the applicant's purpose of travel.  
  • A copy of travel itinerary.
  • A receipt of  paid visa application fee.

Canada is a parliamentary and constitutional democracy, the Elizabeth ll serves as its queen while a prime minister is the chair of the Cabinet and head of government.  


The Canadian economy is the tenth-largest in the world. It has a mixed economy system.  Canada is a net exporter of energy having  13th percent of the global oil reserve which makes it the third-largest share after Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

General Requirements for Canada Visa

Canada Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Travellers who intend to visit Canada for tourism can apply for this type of visa. 
  • You can also make business trips, attend conferences, educational, professional or business events whilst in the country with this visa type.
  • You can also visit family and friends with this type of visa.
  • A Canadian tourist visa is also known as Canada visitor visa or Canadian Temporary Resident Visa(TRV). 
  • Canadian tourist visas are of two types: single entry visa and multiple entry visa.
  • Your host in Canada has to send you a letter of invitation stating his address and valid contact details.
  • Holders of this visa cannot enrol for any part-time or full-time courses.
  • If you find a study program that has a duration of stay on your tourist visa,  then you are allowed to attend it, but only if you have specified it in your application. 
  • Cameroonians who travel with this type of visa cannot take up any forms of employment while in the country.
  • The Canadian tourist visa is granted for a period of 60 days per stay.
  • An international passport with a validity of not less than six months should be submitted.
  •  Applicants are advised to apply at least 45 days before their proposed journey.
  • You are required to present the receipt of paid visa application fee before you can be issued this visa.
  • You are to provide a letter from the authorities in Cameroon stating that you have a clean criminal record. 
  • Your current employer has to provide a proof of your employment in his company. 
  • And an evidence of your family ties which shows you have the intention of returning to Cameroon after the duration of your trip.
  • Cameroonians are expected to do a medical checkup and ensure they are in good health before they gain entry into Canada.
  • Holders of this visa can attend conferences, educational, professional or business events while they are in Canada.
  • Your dependents, such as your spouse and minor children can come to Canada with you with a Tourist Visa. However, they must have their own application, and everyone should pay separate fees.

Canada Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Cameroonians who wish to be enrolled in any institution of learning in Canada can apply for this type of visa. 
  • Before initiating the visa application process, holders of this visa must have been accepted to study in a school in Canada. 
  • As a Canadian student, you will have to obtain a Canadian study permit which would serve as a Canadian student visa for the duration of your stay.
  • A study permit is a document issued by the Canadian immigration authorities that serves as permission for foreign students to study in Canada. 
  • The Canadian study permit can be renewed within Canada if you decide to continue your studies.
  • Full-time Cameroonian students registered at an accredited higher education institution with study permit are allowed to work part-time on campus.
  • You may also be able to work off-campus, work as a co-op or intern as part of your program, stay in Canada as a permanent resident or seek employment after graduation. 
  • The Canadian study permit can be applied either online or through a paper application obtainable from the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website.
  • Cameroonians who intend to study in Canada are to provide a copy of their criminal record in the form of a police clearance certificate.
  • Paper applications typically take about twice as long, and it’s always recommended to check the processing times well in advance.
  • A proof of medical condition is to be provided during the application process.  This is to prove you are in a good clean bill of health while you study for the duration of time. 
  • Applicants are to provide biometric fingerprints during the application process. 
  • Proficiency in the English language is a requirement. Most times accessed from your TOEFL or IELTS tests results.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of part or full payment of tuition fees.
  • Your original transcripts and certificates from previous schools are required to prove you are qualified to be enrolled.
  • A proof of scholarship award is necessary
  • Documents to prove your intended return to your home country. 
  • A proof of paid visa application fee should be presented before you can be granted this visa.
  • If your visa expires before the completion of your study, you are free to apply for an extension to cover the period of your study.
  • A proof of accommodation for the duration of your stay in the country should be provided.
  • A proof of financial sufficiency that covers your tuition fees and living expenses during duration of stay.

Canada Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Foreigners apply for this type of visa to be to take up paid employment in Canada.
  • Before you are granted this visa, you must show proof of being employed by a company in Canada.
  • An employment letter from your employer in Canada would be requested. The letter must have the address of the company, the position you have been employed and the duration of your visit.
  • The job offer you have been given must be approved by the Canadian government through the Labour Market Impact Analysis Process before you can be given a work visa. 
  • Working in Canada on a temporary basis requires you to have a work permit.
  • Before one is granted a Temporary work permit, an offer of employment from a Canadian employer is usually required.
  • The foreign worker's country of citizenship is considered, which means a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) may also be needed for entry.
  •  An intending  Canadian employer who wishes to hire a temporary foreign worker may need to apply for and be granted a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)by ESDC.
  • The ESDC will grant a positive LMIA if it is satisfied that no Canadian citizen or permanent resident is available to do the job.
  • Work Permits may be issued by Canadian immigration officials without the LMIA requirement in a limited number of situations.
  • A Temporary Work Permit may be issued for a period of time ranging from a few days to a few years.
  • Intending employers are required to apply for government permission to hire outside Canada. Once this permission has been granted, the designated employee must apply for and receive his or her Work Permit.
  • You must have a good command of the English language before applying for this visa.
  • Minors must have a letter of consent signed by both their parents.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fees should be presented during the visa application process.
  • Proof of good health condition should be provided.

Canada Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Canadian Official visa is for government officials who want to visit Canada to improve the relationship between the government of both countries.
  • Diplomatic note from the Cameroonian government which should contain your position in government, duration, and purpose of your visit to the country is to be presented. 
  • Heads of State, Consular officers, ministers, and African Union representatives are eligible applicants.  
  • This visa will not be granted to applicants who are visiting Canada for non-official duty.
  •  Minors are to provide an original copy of birth certificate during the visa application process.
  • You can attend conferences and meetings while you are in the country.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up a course of study or be paid for services they render in the country.
  • Official invitation from the Canadian government should be provided.
