Basic Travel Requirements for Congoleses visiting Japan

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Japanese Visa.

  • Signed DR Congo passport with at least 6 months' validity after an intended stay in Japan is required. 
  • Passport must have at least 2 blank pages to attach Japan visa stamp.
  • The application form must be signed and fully completed by the applicant. 
  • Passport photograph 4.5 cm x 4.5 cm with a white background must be taken within the last 6 months.
  • Daily itinerary in Japan should also be submitted.
  • Proof of accommodation in Japan. This could be either an invitation letter from the host stating clearly that they will accommodate the applicant or a copy of the hotel reservation.
  • Documents to prove the ability to pay for travel expenses such as personal bank statements for the last 3 months.
  • Travel/medical insurance that is valid for the whole duration of stay in Japan is required.
  • Flight reservation slip (photocopy is acceptable).
  • If a visa applicant is a minor and planning to travel without parents, a letter of consent signed by a parent, applicant's birth certificate, and 
  • Photocopy of the valid parent's ID (e.g. passport, driver’s license) with signature is also required.

Japan Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The tourist visa is issued to a foreigner for the purpose of sightseeing, relaxation and recreational purposes in Japan.
  • Holders of a tourist visa can also visit family relatives or friends in Japan.
  • Original DR Congo Passport with 6-month validity beyond stay in Japan.
  • Passport should have at least 2 blank pages for visa stamp
  • Correctly filled and signed visa application form is required.
  • Letter of invitation from the host (family, friend or tour organization) indicating the contact information and the relationship with the applicant is required.
  • The letter must indicate the length of stay and intended date of return to DR Congo.
  • Applicants are required to submit a copy of the stay permit in DR Congo if they are not citizens of DR  Congo.
  • Birth certificate and notarized consent note signed by both parents should be submitted by minors.
  • Applicants cannot take up employment while in Japan.
  • Applicants are not required to overstay the duration of stay in Japan.

Japan Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • A business visa is issued to foreigners visiting Japan for business purposes such as attending business meetings or conferences, negotiating and signing business contracts with other business partners in Japan.
  • Original DR Congo passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Japan.
  • 2 passport photo taken against a white background. The passport photograph must be taken within the last 6 months. 
  • Confirmed travel itinerary showing travel details, dates of entry and exit from Japan. 
  • Copies of bank statements from the past 6 months showing that the applicant has sufficient funds for the duration of stay in Japan.
  • A letter from the applicant’s employer in DR Congo, with contact details, stating that the business leave has been granted and that the applicant will be returning to the current job. 
  • If the applicant is self-employed, duration and purpose of travel to Japan.
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of the company’s business license and the tax return is required.
  • Copy of confirmed hotel reservations showing proof of accommodation is required.
  • A business invitation letter from the sponsoring company in Japan.
  • An invitation letter briefly introducing the applicant by indicating employment status/position held in the company by the applicant, the nature of the business to be conducted and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Japan.
