Basic Travel Requirements for Congoleses visiting Japan

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Japanese Visa.


  • Signed DR Congo passport with at least 6 months' validity after an intended stay in Japan is required. 
  • Passport must have at least 2 blank pages to attach Japan visa stamp.
  • The application form must be signed and fully completed by the applicant. 
  • Passport photograph 4.5 cm x 4.5 cm with a white background must be taken within the last 6 months.
  • Daily itinerary in Japan should also be submitted.
  • Proof of accommodation in Japan. This could be either an invitation letter from the host stating clearly that they will accommodate the applicant or a copy of the hotel reservation.
  • Documents to prove the ability to pay for travel expenses such as personal bank statements for the last 3 months.
  • Travel/medical insurance that is valid for the whole duration of stay in Japan is required.
  • Flight reservation slip (photocopy is acceptable).
  • If a visa applicant is a minor and planning to travel without parents, a letter of consent signed by a parent, applicant's birth certificate, and 
  • Photocopy of the valid parent's ID (e.g. passport, driver’s license) with signature is also required.
