Application requirements
Documents Egyptian applicants need to provide.
- Passport with a validity of more than 6 months from the intended period of exiting the country. The passport should have at least two blank pages for the necessary stamp.
- Correctly filled visa application form duly signed by the applicant.
- Two recent passport-sized photographs with a white background. The photo should follow the specification for a visa application.
- Original copy of bank statement from the past three months prior to the period of visa application. This is proof of a steady and continuous flow of funds.
- Travel insurance which has sufficient medical coverage. The insurance should be valid for the duration of your stay in the country.
- Proof of accommodation for the period you will be staying in the country.
- Copy of return flight ticket.
- Travel itinerary.
Visa type details
Tourist visa
- The Tourist Visa is issued to applicants traveling to India for the purpose of leisure and tourism.
- Applicants of this visa may also have the intention of visiting their friends or relatives living in India.
- Foreigners visiting someone in the country are required to provide a letter of invitation from their host. The letter must state the relationship between the applicant and the host and must be accompanied by the valid means of identification of the host.
- A letter from your employer in Egypt should be provided. The letter must state your job position, salary level and duration of the trip.
- Tourists in India can take part in events and festivals in the country.
- Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment during their time in the country.
- Minors visiting India are required to be in possession of the unabridged original copy of their birth certificate. If they are traveling with one of their parents, a notarized consent signed by both parents is required.
- The Tourist Visa cannot be extended in India.
- You are expected to leave the country on or before your visa expires.
Business visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners traveling to India for business purposes.
- Business travelers can negotiate and sign business contracts with their business partners during their time in the country.
- Holders of this visa can attend trade fairs, conferences, and business seminars relating to their profession.
- An invitation letter from the company in India is required. The letter must state the nature of the business to be carried out ad the duration of the business trip.
- The letter must also state who will be responsible for the applicant’s finances while in the country.
- A letter from the sponsoring company in Egypt should be provided. The letter must be printed on the company’s letterhead and state the duration and purpose of the business trip.
- A copy of the Commercial Registration paper of the Egyptian company and its English translation should be provided.
- Holders of this visa are not permitted to receive payments for the services they render while in the country.
- Non-Egyptians are required to present a copy of the Egypt residence permit.
Student visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners who have the intention of studying in any of the academic institutions in the country.
- A letter of acceptance from the institution the applicant has been accepted into is required. The letter must be printed on the institutions letterhead and be signed by the head of the institution.
- The letter of acceptance must state the course to be studied by the applicant and the length of the study programme.
- Proof of financial guarantee for meeting the expenses in India is required.
- Students are allowed to work part-time when school is in session and full-time when school is on break.
- Applicants of this visa should ensure they present certificates and transcripts of the schools they previously attended.
- If the applicant of this visa is under the age of 18 years, he/she is required to present the original copy of their birth certificate.
- This visa is issued to cover the duration of the applicant’s study.
Journalist visa
- This visa is issued to journalists and media personnel traveling to India for work purposes.
- Applicants of this visa need special clearance before they can apply for this visa.
- A letter from the news agency in India should be provided.
- If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required.
- A letter from your employer in Egypt should be provided. The letter must be printed on the company’s letterhead and must state the duration and the purpose of the trip.
- Non-Egyptians should ensure they are in possession of their Egypt residence permit.
- This visa cannot be renewed in India.
- You are expected to leave the country on or before this visa expires.
Medical visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners with the intention of seeking medical treatment in India in established or specialized hospitals.
- Foreigners traveling to India for medical reasons can be accompanied by up to two attendants who would be granted Medical Attendant Visa.
- A letter from the Egyptian doctor or medical institution recommending treatment in India giving details of treatment.
- An invitation letter from the medical institution in India willing to treat the applicant is required. The nature of the applicant’s illness and the duration of the treatment should be state in the letter.
- If the applicant is a minor, the original copy of the applicant’s birth certificate is required. A notarized consent signed by both parents of the minor if required if he/she is traveling with none or one of his/her parent.
- This visa is valid for one year or the duration of the treatment, whichever is shorter.
- The Medical Visa can be extended for an extra year on recommendation from an established hospital.
- The visa can be for single or multiple entries.
Work visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners willing to travel to India for the purpose of employment.
- Eligible applicants of this visa are people being engaged or appointed by a company in India on contract or employment basis at a senior level, skilled position such as technical expert, senior executive, or in a managerial position.
- This visa is not granted to foreigners who have been given jobs for which a large number of qualified Indians are available.
- Foreigners who are traveling to India for routine, ordinary or secretarial job will not be issued this visa.
- You cannot apply for this visa from India but from your country of residence.
- Holders of this visa are expected to comply with all other requirements like payment of tax liabilities.
- Applicants who are self-employed and have the intention of providing medical, accounting, legal or other highly skilled services in their capacity as independent consultants are eligible for this visa.
- An employment contract from the applicant’s employee in India should be submitted.
- If the duration of your stay in India will exceed 180 days, registration is compulsory within 14 days of first arrival.
Transit visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners who have the intention of transiting through India to their destination country.
- Traveling from Egypt to India and from India to Egypt is not regarded as transit.
- Foreign nationals should ensure they are in possession of the flight ticket of their destination country.
- Visa and other entry permits of the destination country must be submitted.
- If the applicant of this visa is a minor, the unabridged original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required.
- Non-Egyptians should ensure they submit a copy of the Egypt stay permit.
- This visa cannot be extended.
- You are expected to leave the country on or before this visa expires.
