Application requirements
Documents Egyptian applicants need to provide.
- Passport with a validity of at least six months from the period of exiting the country. The passport must contain two blank pages.
- Correctly filled visa application form signed by the applicant.
- Two copies of identical passport photographs taken with a white background. The photographs must not be older than 6 months.
- Original bank statement covering the last six months prior to the period of visa application.
- Travel insurance which has sufficient medical coverage. The insurance should be valid for the duration of your stay in the country.
- Proof of accommodation for the period you will be staying in the country.
- Copy of return flight ticket.
- Travel itinerary.
- Proof of civil status.
Visa type details
Tourist visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners who have the intention of visiting Sweden for leisure and tourism purposes.
- This visa also doubles as the Visitor Visa. Foreigners can visit their friends or relatives who are permanent residents of the country.
- If you are visiting someone in the country, a letter of invitation from your host is required. The letter should state the relationship between the applicant and the host and should also contain valid contact information of the host.
- Applicants who are employed are required to present a letter from their employer. The letter should specify the applicant’s date of recruitment, job position, duration and purpose of the visit.
- If you are not a citizen of Egypt, you are required to submit a valid Egyptian residence permit during the visa application process.
- Minors should provide the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are traveling with one or none of their parents, a notarized consent signed by both their parents is required.
- Foreigners are not allowed to be paid for the services they render while they are in the country or take up paid employment.
- Egyptians in the country can attend festivals and events during their trip.
- All the documents originally issued in Arabic must be translated into English or Swedish.
Business visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners visiting Sweden to maintain and develop business relationships with their partners in the country.
- Business travelers in Sweden can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partner company during business meetings.
- Holders of this visa are permitted to attend business summits, conferences, and trade fairs relating to their profession.
- An official letter of invitation from the company in Sweden printed on the company letterhead should be provided. The letter should introduce the applicant and contain the valid contact address of the company, as well as, the duration and purpose of the visit.
- A letter from the applicant’s employer in Egypt confirming awareness and allowance of the business leave is required. The letter must contain contact information of the company, applicant’s job position, salary level, and duration of the visit.
- The business letter from the host company should also state who bears the cost during the applicant’s visit in the country.
- Proof of previous trade relations between the host company and sponsoring company should be provided, if any.
- Non-Egyptians should provide a copy of valid residence permit during the visa application process.
- Foreigners cannot take up paid or unpaid employment during their time in the country.
- If the document is in Arabic, it should be translated into English or Swedish.
Medical visa
- The Medical Visa is issued to foreign nationals visiting Sweden for medical treatment that cannot be gotten in their home country.
- Applicants are required to provide a certificate from a medical institution in Egypt stating the medical history of the patient and the kind of medical treatment that is needed.
- A letter from the receiving medical institution in Sweden stating that it can perform the specific treatment needed by the applicant. The contact information of the medical institution and the duration of medical treatment should be stated in the letter.
- Proof of financial arrangements made for medical costs is required.
- Correspondence between the sending medical doctor and the receiving medical institution, if available should be provided.
- If the applicant is a under the age of 18, the original birth certificate of the applicant is required. Also, a notarized consent signed by both parents of the applicant should be provided.
- Foreigners are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment during their time in the country.
- At the end of your treatment, you are expected to leave the country.
- If the documents are in Arabic, they should be translated into English or Sweden.
Student visa
- Students who have been accepted to study in any of the academic institutions in the Sweden are the eligible applicants of this visa.
- A letter of acceptance from the institution that the applicant has been accepted into should be provided. The letter should state the course that the applicant has been accepted into and the duration of the study programme.
- In order to study in Sweden, you must have a residence permit.
- Foreign students are allowed to work for a period of time, as long as it does not affect the applicant’s study.
- Applicants should provide the certificates and transcripts gotten from previously attended schools.
- Non-Egyptians applying for this visa from Egypt should provide a copy of their residence permit.
- Applicants who are under the age of 18 years should provide their original birth certificate carrying both names of their parents.
- Foreigners in the country are not allowed to seek public funds.
- All the documents originally issued in Arabic should be translated into English or Swedish.
Work visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners who have been offered a job position by an employer in the country.
- The employment contract signed by both the employer and employee should be provided. The letter should state the terms of employment and the description of the job the applicant has been offered.
- In order to work in Sweden, you must have obtained a work permit.
- Proof from your employer that there was no Swedish willing and available to take up the job you were offered is required.
- If the employment is temporary, you will be issued a residence and work permit valid only for the same period, but for a maximum of two years at a time.
- Foreigners who do not have the right qualification that matches the job they have been offered will not be granted this visa.
- A copy of your resume or CV is required.
- Proof that you will not be paid below the minimum wage during the duration of your employment is required.
- You are expected to leave the country on or before this visa expires.
