Sweden Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to foreigners who have the intention of visiting Sweden for leisure and tourism purposes.
  • This visa also doubles as the Visitor Visa. Foreigners can visit their friends or relatives who are permanent residents of the country.
  • If you are visiting someone in the country, a letter of invitation from your host is required. The letter should state the relationship between the applicant and the host and should also contain valid contact information of the host.

  • Proof of financial arrangements made for medical costs is required.
  • Correspondence between the sending medical doctor and the receiving medical institution, if available should be provided.

  • In order to study in Sweden, you must have a residence permit.

  • The employment contract signed by both the employer and employee should be provided. The letter should state the terms of employment and the description of the job the applicant has been offered.
  • In order to work in Sweden, you must have obtained a work permit.
  • Proof from your employer that there was no Swedish willing and available to take up the job you were offered is required.
  • If the employment is temporary, you will be issued a residence and work permit valid only for the same period, but for a maximum of two years at a time.
  • Foreigners who do not have the right qualification that matches the job they have been offered will not be granted this visa.
  • A copy of your resume or CV is required.
  • Proof that you will not be paid below the minimum wage during the duration of your employment is required.
  • You are expected to leave the country on or before this visa expires.
