Basic Travel Requirements for Eritreans visiting Austria
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Austrian Visa.
- A fully-filled and personally signed visa application form.
- Passport photograph which corresponds to the ICAO criteria. The photograph must be in color with a plain white background and must be 35x45mm.
- An original Eritrean international passport which has a validity of at least three months after the expiry of the requested visa. The passport must have two blank pages and it must be issued within the last 10 years.
- Biometric data (ten fingerprints digitally captured and recorded) are collected from selected applicants at the submission of an application.

Austria Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to foreigners who have the intention of traveling to Austria for tourism and visitation.
- Applicants of this visa are expected to have a hotel reservation or an all-inclusive reservation in Austria.
- Traveler must have adequate financial means to cater for themselves in the country. Proof of this must be provided.
- If the applicant of this visa is unable to provide proof of financial means, need to provide the eight-digit ID number of the electronic letter of guarantee.
- The electronic letter of guarantee is to be signed by the applicant’s sponsor at the local Federal Police Department.

Austria Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Austrian work visa also known as residence permit visa is granted to non-EU nationals who are traveling to Austria for the purpose of working and living there temporarily or permanently.
- The Work visa processing time is usually 15 working days, however, it could take much longer up to 4-5 weeks depending on the country the applicant is applying from.
- The applicant must make sure he or she does not have a serious criminal case which the consulate might find reprehensible to the immigration policy governing Austria.
- If you wish to stay for a period of no longer than six months you will need a travel visa (Visa C) (Schengenvisum) for a maximum of 90 days within six months.

- The people who are applying for a short-stay visa that is, The Jobseeker Visa are however eligible to look for work only in Austria throughout their stay.
- If you eventually secure a job after searching, you will be required to apply for a work permit Visa.
- The EU Blue Card is a type of residence and work permit which allows highly qualified non-EU nationals to work and live in Austria for a maximum of two years. It can, however, be granted to non-EU citizens if the Austrian citizens or EU citizens are not available to do the work specified.
- The Red-White-Red Card is granted to Non-EU citizens who are qualified as key workers for a specific work. The card allows you to live and work in Austria for one (1)year.
- In order to qualify as a key worker, you must be high qualified, a skilled worker in a shortage occupation, a self-employed key worker, or a graduate of an Austrian university.
- The case is different if you are a lecturer, scientist or researcher staying for up to six months, then the visa required is slightly different. Visa C is required for work considered ‘gainful employment’ (Visum C – Erwerb) for stays of between 90 and 180 days, or Visa D for stays of between 91 days and six months.
Austria Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

- Eritrean students who have been accepted by an institution in the country are required to provide a confirmation of acceptance.
- Underage children should have a certified declaration of parental authority if they are traveling without their parents.

- This visa is issued as a short-stay visa with the duration of stay of 90 days spreading over a period of 180 days in one calendar year.
- Proof of previous trade relations between the host company and the sponsoring company should be provided, if any.
- Holders of this visa can attend and participate in trade fairs, conferences, and business seminars in the country.
- Applicants who intend to participate in conferences, trade fairs, and seminars are required to provide an invitation from the authorized body to attend events.
- A letter from the applicant’s employer in Eritrea should be provided. The letter must introduce the applicant and state continuing employment on return to the country.
- All your documents that are written in Arabic must be translated into English, and the documents must be submitted along with the original copies(Arabic written).
- With this visa being a Schengen visa, you can visit other Schengen countries with this visa.
- People who live in Eritrea but are not its citizens should ensure they provide their Eritrean residence permit.
- You should make sure you do not overstay your visa's duration that could incur a penalty on you, should you defy the warning.
