Basic Travel Requirements for Eritreans visiting Austria

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Austrian Visa.


  • A fully-filled and personally signed visa application form.
  • Passport photograph which corresponds to the ICAO criteria. The photograph must be in color with a plain white background and must be 35x45mm. 
  • An original Eritrean international passport which has a validity of at least three months after the expiry of the requested visa. The passport must have two blank pages and it must be issued within the last 10 years.
  • Biometric data (ten fingerprints digitally captured and recorded) are collected from selected applicants at the submission of an application.
  • Copy of the passport datasheet.
  • Copies of previous Schengen visas.
  • Proof of means of transport.
  • For travel by car: driving license, green insurance card, and registration certificate.
  • Travel, health, and accident insurance with a coverage of a minimum of €30,000.
