Basic Travel Requirements for Eritreans visiting Greece

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Greek Visa.

  • An International Eritrean passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have two blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • At least two Passport-size photographs (40 mm x 60 mm ) taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support.

Greece Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is eligible to foreigners who are travelling to Greece as a tourist for adventure, sight-seeing, vacation, temporary visit, visiting family and friends, etc...
  • The visa is processed in 15 days but could exceed 15 days if your information is inaccurate or some cases arise.
  • This visa is valid for 90 days as a short-stay visit and it costs EUR 60.00 like other Schengen visas.
  • Greece is part of the Schengen countries so you can also use your visa as a Schengen visa.
  • Travel Insurance stating that you are covered in case of a medical emergency and repatriation in Greece and in the Schengen Area (minimum coverage of € 30.000) must be provided.
  • Foreign nationals are obliged to attest possessing an amount of €50 per day and a minimum total amount of €300 for a stay of up to 5 days.
  • Bank and credit card statements for the last 3 months must be provided by the applicant.
  • Always be in possession of your form along with your passport while you are in Greece and present it upon departure.
  • You should not hesitate to visit a police station and file a report should you lose your form before the Greek authorities will permit you to leave the country.
  • Penalties for possessing, using, or trafficking in illegal drugs are severe, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and heavy fines. Marijuana is illegal in Greece.
  • Things you should avoid doing in Greece as a tourist:
  • You are not to put half-naked attire when in the country.
  • Do not take a passive-aggressive attitude with smokers.
  • You are to avoid taking photos of military installations.
  • Littering the toilet with tissue and papers.
  • Eat or drink in the metro in Athens.
  • Avert doing the moutza.
  • Avoid touching artifacts in museums and at archaeological sites.

Greece Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Greek business visa is issued to people who are traveling to Greece with the intention of engaging in business activities.
  • Holders of this visa can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partners during business meetings in Greece.
  • Application for this visa has the characteristics of the requirements of the Schengen visa.
  • The visa, being a Schengen visa costs EUR 60.00 for adults, 35.00 Euro for under 12 to 6 years and visa-free for under 5year old.
  • This visa being a short-stay visit is valid for a period of 90 days for a period of 180 days.
  • The visa is processed within 15 days, but could be stalled up to 30 days or more in some cases.
  • An invitation letter from the host company in Greece is required. The letter should be written in either Greek or English.
  • Your other documents must also be translated either to Greek or English.
  • The invitation letter should introduce the applicant and state the duration and purpose of the applicant’s visit to the country.
  • This visa allows foreigners to attend and participate in trade fairs, conferences, and business seminars relating to their profession.
  • Foreigners visiting the country to attend a conference should provide an invitation letter from the company or authorized body to attend events connected with trade.
  • Applicants of this visa must provide evidence of a clean criminal record from the last three years.
  • A letter from the applicant’s employer stating the applicant’s job position, salary level and length of employment should be provided.
  • You are to present a Certificate of Business Incorporation of a company in Greece when applying.
  • Applicants for the Greek visa can apply in the neighboring countries that Greek has a Diplomatic mission as the consulate of Greece in Asmara, is currently not functioning.
  • You might be called up for an interview in the Greek embassy or consulate in your country or neighboring countries to give further clearer information to the existing information given on the visa application form.
