Basic Travel Requirements for Eritreans visiting Portugal

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Portuguese Visa.


  • An Eritrean international passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • A duly completed and signed visa application form should be submitted.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Two passport-sized photographs (3mm x 45mm) taken on a plain white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Copy of return flight ticket(not always required, though).
  • Your flight dates and times.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to last your stay duration in Portugal.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.
  • Evidence of your economic status ( if employed, self-employed, student, retired, etc...)
  • Proof of civil status, if married, children, etc..
  • Valid travel insurance which has a coverage of €30,000 for medical insurance.
  • Portugal currently does not have a Diplomatic Mission in Eritrea. You are to apply for a Portuguese visa in neighbouring countries where Portugal is maintaining a Diplomatic Mission.
