Norway Visitor Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Norwegian visitor's visa is for Gambians intending to travel to Norway for tourism, visitation and business purposes.
- Norway is a Schengen country, so you can also apply for a Schengen visa.
- The Norwegian visitor's visa encompasses the following:
- Business travelling.
- Attending a cultural event or visit an organisation.
- Touring Norway.
- Visiting a family member or friends.
- Going for a business meeting or conference.
- Norway is one amongst the 3 Scandinavian countries and is located in the Northern part of Europe. It shares its boundary with Russia, Finland, and Sweden.
- Currency restriction into Norway is 25,000 Norwegian Kroner. This does not include the traveler's check.
- If you are exiting Norway with an amount of up to 25,000 Norwegian Kroner, prior approval must be gotten.
- Travel Visa Insurance confirmation within Norway and the entire Schengen area must be provided. Insurance coverage must be a minimum of 30,000 euros.
- If you intend to attend conferences while you are in Norway, proof that you have registered and paid to attend the conference is required.
- Norway has a low level of crime and violent crime is uncommon.
- Unlike Norway’s mainland, Svalbard is not a party to the Schengen Agreement and air travellers to Svalbard from Norway will depart the Schengen Zone prior to boarding.
- Verify that you have adequate travel, medical, and medical evacuation insurance to cover the potential costs of medical treatment or repatriation before you travel to Svalbard.
- Although road systems exist within the three largest towns – Longyearbyen, Barentsburg, and Ny-Alesund – they do not connect with each other, making sea, snowmobile, or limited air service the only options for travelling throughout Svalbard.
- The Norway Embassy needs to know the details of your trip. So, we recommend you to attach a covering letter that has all the necessary details about the visit, including the length of your stay, the places you plan to visit, and the arrangements you’ve made for your accommodation and transportation. Remember to sign the letter before submission.
Norway Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- To be eligible for Norway student visa or residence permit, you must provide the official letter of acceptance issued by your hosting Norway university or educational institute or polytechnic.
- Processing times for student residence permits will vary and may take two months or so, therefore it is advisable to apply as soon as you are able.
- You’re required to visit the police station within seven days of your arrival in Norway. You’ll have your fingerprints and photo taken and will be sent your residence card by post within 10 working days.
- You must provide proof of your financial ability so as to support yourself financially during your entire study period.
- Students are required to prove that they have access to NOK 116,369 for 10 months (academic year).
- A copy of your UDI document must be provided.
- The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration requires the money to be deposited in a Norwegian bank account., this is a general rule.
- The embassy or consulate you are using reserves the right to ask for additional documents or a second appearance for an interview in special cases.
- Having completed your studies, you are eligible to apply for a residence permit for up to six months in which to seek employment as a skilled worker.
- You must be able to prove you have become qualified as a skilled worker during your time studying in Norway, or that you had specialist training before your stay in Norway and then undertook further education in Norway.
