The Gambia is known for its wildlife and diverse ecosystem. There are various national parks in different locations around the country which offer various wildlife. Kiang West National Park and Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve have animals like monkey, leopards, hippos, hyena and rare birds. Crocodiles can also be found in the Abuko Nature Reserve. Asides the abundance of wildlife, the country has beaches which also offer other exciting activities for tourists.
Tourism in the Gambia has been on the rise since it started with 300 Swedish tourists in 1965.
