  • This is the type of visa issued to persons who intend to visit Hong Kong for tourism purposes.
  • You can also visit family and friends while on this visa.
  • All visitors to Hong Kong must carry a valid passport.
  • Applicants seeking this visa need to submit an invitation letter from a family member or host living in Hong Kong.
  • This letter should clearly state the address and contact details of the host, as well as your relationship with them.

  • The Hong Kong tourist visa is valid for only 90 days.
  • You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires.

  • This is the type of visa issued to Ghanaians traveling to Hong Kong for business purposes.
  • You will need to provide an invitation letter from the Hong Kong company you will be visiting.
  • This letter will also contain their detailed address, accompanied with the date and actual purpose of your trip.
  • If the intention is to attend a meeting or seminar, confirmation/invitation from the conference organizer/institution is required.
  • If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating or allowing your business travel.
  • Your bank statement from the last 6 months is needed.
  • Self-employed people will submit proof of business registration.
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
  • It must be made clear whether your trip will be sponsored by the employer or the local company.

Hong Kong Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • A foreigner who wants to stay and study in Hong Kong will require either a student visa or a student residence permit.
  • Student visas are handled very much like work visas.
  • To get a student visa, your sponsoring educational institution will need to apply for the visa on your behalf.
  • To apply for entry to Hong Kong for study, the applicant should nominate a local sponsor.
  • This can be the educational institution granting the acceptance for admission or an individual over 18 years old living in Hong Kong.
  • The validity of the student visa, if granted, will be in line with the normal duration of the study programme.
  • To apply for a visa, your passport must be valid for six months or more from the date of intended entry.
  • Applicants must be able to provide proof that they have sufficient funds to last them the duration of their study.

Hong Kong Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • If you’re planning on taking a job in Hong Kong, you need to get a work permit first.
  • To get an employment visa you must have a job in a sponsoring company that is willing to employ you and carry out the application process for your permit.
  • The sponsoring company has to prove that you have the necessary skills for the job and that a local worker could not fill the position.
  • When granting work visas, the Immigration Department considers the applicant’s education, job experience and other factors.
  • The application for your work visa is not submitted by you, but by your future employer.
  • The company has to submit a confirmed offer of employment, and proof that the remuneration package includes salary, accommodation, medical and educational provisions, as well as other benefits appropriate for professionals in Hong Kong.
  • The application process takes four to six weeks, after which the entry visa is issued to your employer, who would then forward it to you.
  • Once you get your visa, you can apply for residency for your spouse and children as well.
