  • Ghana passport holders can visit India for a duration of 90 days by applying for an electronic visa. The e-visa costs about US$80.
  • Ghanaians are advised to apply for the e-visa, at least four days before departure.
  • Prospective visitors are to show a passport valid for a period of 6 months beyond the date of arrival into India. The passport should have at least two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • Nationals of Ghana visiting India with firearms need an Import Permit from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in India.
  • The import and export of foreign currencies are unlimited, however, amounts exceeding $ 5,000 or its equivalent would be declared.
  • Also, the importation and exportation of the local currency of India are set at a maximum of INR 25,000.
  • Travellers need to show evidence that they have enough money to spend while in India.
  • Ghanaians will be required to show a certificate of yellow fever vaccination on entry into India. They are advised to be vaccinated against other common illnesses before their travel in India.
  • Minors visiting India alone are required to have a consent letter signed by both parents or guardian.

How long does it take to get an e-Visa to India?

It can take between two to four days to get your Indian E-Tourist visa approved. You can apply for an E-visa for India at the Indian consulate or high commission in your country.


How long is a regular Indian visa valid?

Regardless of the duration of the visa, the maximum duration of stay in India is limited to 6 months (180 days) on each visit. Extension of stay is not granted on tourist visas and it can not be converted into any other visa.


Can I re-enter India on a tourist visa?
Tourist visa holders need a permit if they would like to re-enter India within 2 months after last leaving India. The total period of stay in India, counted from the date of first entry into the country, will not exceed the maximum allowed stay during one visit, such as 180 days or 90 days.

Is it easy to get an Indian visa?

The window for applying under the e-visa scheme has been increased from 30 days to 120 days, therefore making the process a lot easier.
