Entry Requirements

  • Ghanaian nationals can visit Uganda visa-free for a duration of 90 days.
  • Your passport must be valid for six months at the date of entry into Uganda, with two blank pages for entry stamps on arrival and departure.
  • Intending visitors can stay in Uganda without a visa for three months.
  • Children under 5 years require a polio vaccination before entry into Uganda.
  • If you overstay your visa, you will be required a fine of up to $100 per day overstayed. You may also be detained until you pay your fine.
  • Entry may be refused to visitors not holding a valid passport, proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay and a return or onward ticket.
  • If you are also visiting Rwanda and Kenya, it is better to apply for the East African visa, which allows entry into all three countries on a single visa. The East African visa cost $100.
  • You can apply for an extension of your visa at the immigration headquarters in Kampala before the current visa expires.
  • Cats and dogs must be vaccinated of rabies not less than 30 days before arrival into Uganda.
  • Ghanaians visiting Uganda must check for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia, and influenza vaccines.
  • Direct flights are available from the Kotoka International Airport Accra, Ghana to Entebbe, Uganda. The estimated flight time is between 5 - 6 hours.
  • Although Christianity is the most widely practiced religion in Uganda, Islam is also commonly practiced.
