In 1996 the Öngulsstaðir Tourism Services opened the initial guesthouse and restaurant in the farm‘s converted barn and cowshed.
In the beginning, the business was entirely family run but during 2004 – 2012 it was leased out.
Since his resuming the business in 2012, Jóhannes has based the firm on the concept behind Lamb Inn.
In 2013, Guðný and Karl moved to Öngulsstaðir and bought a 50% share in the firm, formally owned by their company called Markvert Holding.
The whole family has been involved in running Lamb Inn.
