Tourist visa
- Niger tourist visa is issued to persons traveling to the country for leisure and tour purposes.
- This visa can also be used to visit friends and relatives in the country.
- Minors are required to have a copy of their original birth certificate and a letter of authorization from both parents or guardians.
- Proof of sufficient funds is required for all applicants to ensure that they would not be stranded in Niger.
- Yellow fever vaccination is necessary for travelers and a certificate showing proof should be submitted.
- All three application forms must be correctly filled and signed where necessary.
- Accommodation reservations which could be a hotel or with a host is required.
- Those with a host are to submit a letter from the host. The letter should contain the contact details and address of the host.

- Two copies of a letter from the travel agent you would be using for your trip asserting that the round trip ticket has been purchased should be submitted.

Why is the country called Niger
The country takes its name from the Niger River, which flows through the southwestern part of its territory. The name Niger derives in turn from the phrase 'gher n-gheren', meaning “river among rivers,” in the Tamashek language.
