Portugal Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Portugal is part of the Schengen Area which is made up of 26 European countries, so a Schengen visa is required.
- Tourists are required to register with Portuguese Immigration Service within three days of entering Portugal. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in an administrative offense punishable with a fine from €60 to €160.
- The following documents are also required:
- Your original passport and copies of your previous visas.
- Proof of travel insurance to cover you for the Schengen area.
- Cover letter stating the purpose of your visit and itinerary that includes your activities, flight dates and times, entry and exit out of Portugal.
- Bank statements for the last three months.
- Foreign travelers will not be liable to take up either paid or unpaid employment in the country.
- They are also not allowed to benefit from public services such as public hospitals while in Portugal, that is why they are to travel with their insurance worth of a minimum of 30,000 Euros.
