Documents Ivorian applicants need to provide.
- A valid Ivory Coast international passport or travel document which has a validity of three months after the intended date of departure from the country. Your travel document is expected to have at least two blank pages and must have been issued within the last 10 years.
- A France visa application form which provides correct information of the visa applicant. The visa application form must be duly signed and dated.
- Copies of identical passport-sized photographs which shows the full face of the visa applicant. The applicant’s face must not be covered with a veil or anything of such.
- Applicants are expected to have their original bank statement from the last three months prior to the visa application. This bank statement must be obtained directly from the bank and not published via the internet.
- Certificate of travel medical insurance which is valid for the duration of the applicant’s stay in the country.
- Receipt of payment which shows that payment has been made for the France Visa.
- Confirmed hotel reservation or proof of rental or ownership of real estate should be provided. You can also provide proof that you have sufficient funds to acquire adequate accommodation in the country.

Visa type details
Tourist visa
- This visa is most suitable for Ivorian citizens travelling to France for 90 days or less for leisure, tourism, or for a private visit.
- If the applicant of this visa type is not an Ivorian, he/she must provide a valid Ivorian residence permit which supports his/her residence in Ivory Coast. The residence permit should have a validity of three months after the requested visa expires.
- Non-citizens of Ivory Coast whose residence permit has expired are expected to attach a letter confirming that the process of renewal of the permit has been initiated.
- Document which shows in detail the places the applicant plans to visit and the duration of stay in each of these places.
- Visa applicants from Ivory Coast are not expected to book their return flight in advance.
- Ivorians who are in France for private visits are expected to provide attestation of reception or certificate of reception provided by the inviting party in France.
- If your expenses during your stay in France will be covered by a private person, you are required to provide proof of resources from your host guarantor.
- Retired applicants should ensure they submit their pension certificate during their visa application. The pension certificate must clearly indicate the monthly amount received by the applicant.
- Employees are required to present the certificate of employment issued to them by their employer or a copy of their most recent employment contract.
- If the applicant of this visa is a trader, he/she should provide sufficient proof that he/she is duly registered in the commercial register.
- Farmers are expected to provide their farmer’s card and a document which shows the declaration of their annual income.
- Ivorians visiting France must make a declaration of entry at a police station or to a border control inspection personnel on arrival in the country.
- If you intend to stay in France for longer than the 90-days period granted on your visa, you are required to apply for a long-term visa at the consulate of France in Ivory Coast. It is impossible to switch from a short-term visa to a long-term visa in France.
Medical visa
- The France Medical Visa is issued to foreigners who have the intention of seeking medical care which is unavailable in their country of residence.
- Applicants of the Medical Visa are expected to provide an agreement with the hospital in France which has agreed to take up their treatment in France. The agreement should state the date and duration of the treatment and the estimated cost of the treatment.
- All visa applicants are required to provide a declaration that they are capable of making additional payments in case of any unforeseen additional medical expenses.
- A medical certificate from a recognized doctor or medical institution in Ivory Coast confirming that the medical treatment required by the patient is unavailable in the country.
- The applicant’s medical doctor in Ivory Coast must state in detail, the type of medical care required by the applicant.
- Ivorians applying for this visa type to France are not required to book their return ticket in advance.
- Non-citizens of Ivory Coast applying for this visa are required to provide a copy of their residence permit which carries a validity of at least three months after leaving the country.
- If your residence permit has expired, proof that you have begun the process to ensure the renewal of the permit must be provided.
- Foreigners visiting France are to make a declaration of entry on their arrival in the country.
Official visa
- This visa is issued to foreigners who are members of an international organization visiting France for the purpose of diplomatic official mission.
- The Official Visa is a short-term visa type that allows its holders to stay and reside in France for less than 90 days.
- Non-citizens of Ivory Coast applying for this visa from Ivory Coast are required to be in possession of a valid Ivorian residence permit. The permit should have a validity of at least three months after the intended period of exiting the country.
- If you have a permit which has expired, you are required to provide proof that you have begun processing the renewal of the expired permit.
- On your arrival in France, it is expected that you make a declaration of entry either at a police station or to a border inspection personnel.
- A note verbal is or mission order stating the name of the person appointed to visit France for the official purpose. The official title and the purpose of the trip should also be clearly stated.
- The letter must also state if the sending organization will take responsibility for the applicant’s expenses during his/her time in the country.
- You are expected to pay a fee of €60 and to be paid directly to the French Consulate or Embassy in your country.
- Passengers of a ship staying on board during stop-overs do not require a visa.
