Basic Travel Requirements for Ivorians visiting Germany

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a German Visa.


  • Original Ivorian international passport which carries a validity of a minimum of 3 months after the intended date of the visa expiration. Photocopy in A4 format of the first page and any page used should be provided. The passport must have two blank pages for necessary stamps.
  • Photocopy of previous passports, if the current passport dates from less than one year. Photocopy of previous Schengen visas should also be provided.
  • Correctly filled in visa application form which carries the correct information of the visa applicant. The application form must be appropriately signed.
  • One coloured passport photograph. The photograph must be taken with a white background.
  • Proof of means of subsistence should be provided. This may be in the form of a statement from a bank account in Ivory Coast from the previous three months prior to the visa application.
  • Travel insurance which is valid for all the countries within the Schengen area, which has sufficient coverage for medical and repatriation costs in case of accident or sickness. The insurance must have a minimum coverage of €30,000.
  • Receipt of payment which shows that payment has been made for the visa.
  • Certificate of accommodation, confirmed hotel reservation, proof of rental which shows that you indeed have a place to stay during your visit to Germany.
  • Reservation of return air ticket.
