Entry Requirements

  • Citizens of Ivory Coast looking to visit Sierra Leone for not more than 180 days do not require a visa.
  • Visitors are expected to have a valid passport on arrival.
  • Passports must carry at least two blank pages for stamps.
  • Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination must be provided on arrival.
  • All visitors’ luggage must be cleared at the final destination airport in Sierra Leone.
  • Visitors are allowed to import not more than SLL 50,000, there are, however, no restriction on the import of foreign currencies.
  • Ivorians are required to pay tax of USD 40 or its equivalent in Sierra Leonean Leone upon arrival at the airport.
  • Flights from Abidjan to Freetown, Sierra Leone will require a stopover, so intending visitors are advised to confirm their transit visas before travelling.
  • Pets must be accompanied by an import authorization from the Veterinary Department and a health and rabies vaccination certificate in English.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to support stay in destination such as pay stubs, traveller's checks, and/or most recent bank statement must be provided.
  • Visitors are required to show a computer-generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency showing entry and departure from Sierra Leone.
  • English is the official language in Sierra Leone. However, there are 4 widely spoken languages in the country of which Krio is the most widely spoken.
