Australia Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans visiting Australia for the purpose of sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation may apply for this visa.
  • Those who have the intention of meeting family and friends in the country are eligible for this visa
  • Among the documents required for Australian tourist visa, an invitation letter from your host is required for those with the intention of visiting someone. Information on the letter should include the home address and telephone number of the host.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to study while in the country.
  • Events and festivals can be attended by Kenyans while they are in Australia with this visa.
  • The Australian tourist visa usually has a validity of either 3,6 or 12 months.
  • Persons travelling on a family stream should ensure that their sponsor pays a security bond.
  • The Australia tourist visa can either be a single or multiple entry visa.
  • Confirmation of whether your tourist visa is a single or multiple entry visa can be seen on your visa grant paper.
  • The visitor's visa cannot be extended. Other types of visas can however be applied for.
  • Applicants are to show proof that they are free from tuberculosis and yellow fever.
  • For Kenyans who are employed, your employer should provide a letter which states the allowance of your leave. Your position in the company and the duration of your leave should also be clearly stated in the letter.
  • Applicants of this visa who are not of Kenyan origin are required to present a copy of their residence permit in the country.
  • Minors are expected to have the original copy of their birth certificate during the visa application process. Minors traveling without their parents or with one of their parents should provide a letter of consent signed by both their parents.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of the incentive of returning to their home country upon the expiration of their visa. 
  • Proof of financial sufficiency for the duration of stay is to be provided by the applicant.
  • The travel itinerary of the applicant is also to be submitted.
  • Proof of hotel reservation/accommodation that covers the applicant's duration of stay should also be provided. If the host will be providing the accommodation, this should be clearly stated in the letter sent by the host to the embassy/consulate.
  • Proof that your visa application fee has been paid in full is also required.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of medical fitness to the embassy.
  • The applicant should also submit medical insurance that covers the duration of stay.
  • Tourists in Australia are not permitted to either work or seek public funds.
  • Australia tourist visa processing time is usually between 20-25 days. 

Australia Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • With the business visa, Kenyans can engage in various business activities while they are in Australia.
  • During business visits in the country, foreigners can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partners.
  • Business travelers may attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits while they are in the country.
  • Travelers who plan to attend conferences in the country are required to present proof of registration for the conference and proof of fees paid for the conference.
  • The business owner visa subclass 890 allows its holders to live in Australia indefinitely.
  • The subclass 890 also allows its holders to sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residency.
  • Applicants of the subclass 890 should have owned and operated a business in Australia for at least 2 years immediately before the application is made.
  • The business innovation stream subclass 188 allows its holder to operate a new or existing business company.
  • The subclass 188 allows its holder to stay up to 3-4 years in Australia.
  • If the Australian visa application form is not properly filled, it could delay the visa processing. 
  • A letter of invitation from the company you are meeting with in Australia should be presented during the visa application process. The letter should have the company’s address, the purpose, and the duration of your visit.
  • A letter from your employer stating awareness of your business visit to Australia should be provided. The letter should provide information which includes your position in the company, how long you have been employed, the purpose of your visit, as well as, the duration of your visit.
  • The certificate of business registration of the company you are meeting is required.
  • If the responsibility of your expenses in the country will be taken up by your employer or the partner company, it should be stated in the letter provided.
  • Proof of any previous business dealings between you and the company you are meeting with should be provided.
  • Applicants who are private business owners are to submit a copy of their certificate of business registration and last tax return.
  • Holders of the business visa are not allowed to be paid for the services they render in the country.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of accommodation or hotel reservations for their stay in Australia.
  • Applicants are advised not to make non-refundable payment pending the approval of their application.
  • Applicants are to submit proof of payment of visa application fee.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of the incentive of returning to home country once the visa expires.
  • Kenyans in the country with this visa are not allowed to study.
  • Non-Kenyans are required to provide a copy of their Kenyan stay permit.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.

Australia Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Australia student visa allows students from Kenya to study in any of its institutions of learning.
  • Before initiating the visa application process, applicants should ensure that they have been accepted into the institution they applied to.
  • A letter of acceptance from the institution you applied to should be provided. The letter should contain the course enrolled for, the duration of the study, and the person taking care of the finances of the student.
  • Proof of part or full payment of the institution's tuition fee is to be submitted by the applicant.
  • Proof of financial sufficiency in form of a bank statement or any other approved means by the embassy is to be submitted by the applicant.
  • Certificates and transcripts gotten from previously attended schools should be provided.
  • Holders of this visa can work for a period of time in the country as long as it does not affect your study.
  • This visa can be extended to cover the period of study.
  • Students are expected to leave the country at the end of their program.
  • The unabridged original copy of minor’s birth certificate and a letter of consent by the parents should be provided during the visa application process. 
  • Holders of this visa cannot seek public funds.
  • Proof of payment of visa application fee is required.

Australia Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans with this visa are allowed to work while they are in the country.
  • Applicants must have been employed by a company in Australia before they are issued this visa.
  • An employment letter is expected to be forwarded to the embassy by your employer.
  • The letter should contain the company’s address and job description and should be written on the company's letter head.
  • Applicants of this visa are required to get a work permit.
  • Proof that you will not be paid below the minimum wage by your employer should be provided.
  • Proof that there was no Australian willing and available to take the job at the time is also required.
  • Kenyans without the appropriate qualification for the job will not be issued this visa.
  • If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required. A notarized consent signed by both the minor’s parent should also be submitted.
  • Proof of medical fitness should be submitted. It should show that you are free from all communicable diseases.
  • Kenyans are expected to abide by the rules and regulations guiding their visa.
  • Proof that you have the incentive of returning to Kenya should be provided.
  • Proof of payment of visa application fee should be submitted.
