Basic Travel Requirements for Kenyans visiting Egypt

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Egyptian Visa.

  • Passport with a validity of six months from the intended date of travel. The passport should have at least two blank space and must not be torn or altered in any way.

  • A completed visa application form signed by the applicant.

  • Three passport-size photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cm) taken on a white background.

  • Travel document should be completely provided.

  • Bank statement from the previous three months prior to the period of visa application. This is proof that you are able to take care of yourself during your time in the country.

  • Travel insurance which has sufficient coverage and is valid for the length of your stay in Egypt.

  • Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation for the period of stay in the country.

  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.

  • Copy of return flight ticket.

  • Copy of travel itinerary.

Egypt is a country which is very rich in history and culture. Egypt is known to have a lot of pyramids with most of them being tombs for the Egyptian pharaohs. The pyramids found at Giza are considered to be the most popular pyramids in Egypt. The largest pyramid is the ‘Pyramid of Khufu’ at Giza, it is the only one of the seven wonders of the world which still exists. Tourists in the country can visit museums to see ancient Egyptian antiquities or take a ride through the safari on a camel’s back or a jeep. Whatever you want to do during your time in Egypt, it definitely is great fun.
 
The tourism industry in Egypt is a leading aspect to the economic growth in Egypt. In 2010, Egypt played host to 14.7 million tourists and contributed more than 11%of the country’s GDP. From then on, the number of tourist visits in the country has been on the rise and it is expected to keep rising for the foreseeable future.
 
Travelers into Egypt are not allowed to enter or leave Egypt with more than $10,000 or its equivalent in any currency. People caught in any homosexual act are subject to 10 years imprisonment. Avoid drinking alcohol in public places, you could be arrested if seen doing so. The Egyptian government is not against the practice of Christianity but trying to convert someone to the Christian faith is illegal.

Women traveling alone should be very careful when they are among large crowds, on public transport, and in rural areas. Lots of women are subject to sexual abuse, verbal abuse and domestic violence in Egypt.

General Requirements for Egypt Visa

Egypt Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans with the intention of visiting Egypt to engage in sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation are eligible for this visa.
  • Travelers who want to visit friends and relatives in Egypt may also do so using this visa.
  • If you will be visiting someone in Egypt, a letter of invitation from your host in Egypt is required. The letter should contain information which include the host’s home address, telephone number, and a valid means of identification.
  • Foreigners on this visa cannot take up a course to study in one of the institutions in the country.
  • Applicants are to submit a valid passport that has a minimum validity of six months from the date of departure.
  • The Egyptian tourist visa has a validity of 90 days.
  • The processing time for this visa is 8 working days.
  • Employed applicants are required to present a letter from their employer which states their position in the company, the duration of their employment, as well as the duration of their leave.
  • Retired persons should possess a pension statement or documents showing other financial support from the last 6 months.
  • For non-Kenyans applying for this visa, a copy of their residence permit in Kenya is required.
  • Minors traveling without their parents or with one of their parents are required to have a copy of a letter of consent signed by both parents. The original copy of their birth certificate should also be provided during the visa application.
  • Kenyans are requested to present a document which shows they have the incentive of returning to their country at the expiration of their visa.
  • Travelers are advised to be immunized against malaria, typhoid and hepatitis A and B.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation should be submitted.
  • Travel itinerary should be submitted.
  • Travel insurance that covers the applicants duration of stay should be submitted.
  • While you are in the country, you cannot receive payment for the services you render.
  • Kenyans are prohibited from seeking public funds whilst in the country.

Egypt Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The business visa is for foreigners who intend to engage in business activities whilst in the country.
  • Bearers of this visa are permitted to meet up with business partners, sign contracts and agreements.
  • Applicants should have a passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Egypt with at least one blank page available for Egyptian visa stamp. Amendment pages at the back of the passport are not suitable for the visa stamp.
  • Two copies of a business cover letter printed on the company letterhead from the company you are working with in Kenya.
  • The cover letter should state their awareness of your leave, purpose and duration of stay.
  • An official invitation letter from the Egyptian company you are meeting stating the purpose and duration of your visit should be provided.
  • Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicants duration of stay should be submitted.
  • If your finances will be taken care of by your employer or the partner company, it should be clearly stated in the letter of invitation.
  • Proof of previous business dealings between the Egyptian country and the Kenyan country should be submitted.
  • Proof of registration and receipt of paid fees for the registration of the conference should be made available for those who intend to attend conferences in Egypt.
  • Certificate of business registration of the company you are meeting with should be provided.
  • Applicants who own their own business should provide a copy of their income tax return for the last six months
  • Receipt of paid visa application fees is required.
  • Proof of incentive of returning to Kenya at the expiration of your visa should be submitted.
  • International Certificate of Vaccination of yellow fever should be provided by applicant.
  • Applicants are advised not to make the non-refundable expenses until their visa application is granted.
  • Applicants are not allowed to overstay the length of their visa.

Egypt Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans can make short stops in Egypt with this visa.
  • If your stay in the country is less than 12 hours, you do not need to apply for a transit visa.
  • Foreigners are allowed to transit through Egypt to their destination country with this visa.
  • Applicants are required to have the flight ticket of their destination country.
  • You are required to have the visa of your destination country.
  • Holders of this visa are not permitted to work or study while they are in the country.
  • Receipt of payment of visa application fee is required.
  • Minors should ensure they have an unabridged original copy of their birth certificate.
  • The duration of this visa cannot be extended.
