Basic Travel Requirements for Kenyans visiting Germany

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a German Visa.

  • Kenyan passport with a validity of 3 months after the intended date of exit from the country. The passport should have two blank pages for necessary stamps.
  • Duly completed visa application form which has been signed where necessary.
  • One biometric passport-size photograph taken with a white background. The passport must not be older than 3 months old.
  • Bank statement and pay slips of the past three months prior to the period of visa application. This is proof that you can cater for yourself during your stay in the country.

Germany Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans who intend applying for the tourist visa do so with the intention of visiting Germany for sightseeing, relaxation and recreation purposes.

  • This visa also allows foreigners to visit friends and relatives in the country.

  • Kenyans who are in the country to visit friends and relatives should provide a letter of invitation from their host. The home address and telephone number of the host should be clearly stated in the letter.

  • Applicants are to submit their passport which has a validity of at least six months from the proposed date of travel. copies of previous visas should also be submitted.

  • A travel health insurance that covers the applicants duration of stay should be submitted or its equivalent of 30,000 euros.

  • Applicants are to provide his travel itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit of applicant from Denmark.

  • Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation should be submitted.

  • Proof that you have the incentive of returning to your country at the expiration of your visa should be submitted.

  • With the tourist visa, you are not allowed to study or work while you are in the country.

  • All travelers are expected to have proof that they have the incentive to return to their home country.

  • For Kenyans that are employed, a letter confirming your leave is required.

  • You are expected to abide by all the rules guiding your visa.

  • You cannot take up a course to study in any of the institutions of learning in the country.

Germany Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The applicants of this visa are business-oriented travelers who have the intention of meeting with partners to discuss working relations between them.

  • Holders of this visa can attend conferences, meetings, business summits, and trade fairs whilst they are in the country.

  • A letter of invitation from your business partner in Germany should be provided. The address of the company, duration, and purpose of the meeting should be stated in details in the letter.

  • The certificate of business registration of the company you are meeting up with should be provided.

  • Your employer in Kenya should provide a letter stating they are aware of your business leave. The reason for your visit and how long you will be staying in the country should be indicated in the letter.

  • If you have had previous dealings with the company you are meeting with, you are required to provide proof of this.

  • Applicants are to submit an approved health insurance that covers their duration of stay or its equivalent of 30,000 euros.

  • Kenyans who apply for the medical visa are usually referred for advanced medical treatment in Germany.
  • During the visa application process, you are required to present a referral letter from your local physician with your medical diagnosis.
  • Your physician should also provide a valid reason why the illness cannot be treated in Kenya.
  • This visa does not allow its applicants to take up permanent residence in the country.
  • Whilst in the country with this visa, you are not allowed to take up part-time or full-time courses in any of the schools.
  • You are not permitted to be employed during your time in the country.
  • Children below 18 are to submit their original birth certificate along side a consent letter from one or both parents.

  • This visa allows a Kenyan to take up paid employment temporarily in Germany.
  • Before initiating the visa application process, you must have gotten in a job in the country.
  • A letter from your employer in the country confirming that you have been offered a job is required.
  • The address of the company, as well as your job description, should be clearly stated in the letter.
  • Your employer should provide proof that there was no German available to take a job before you were offered this job.
  • If the applicant of this visa is not a Kenyan citizen, a copy of his/her Kenyan stay permit is required.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee should be provided.

Germany Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa allows foreigners to make short stays in the country.
  • Applicants of this visa intend transiting through Germany to their destination country.
  • Visa and flight ticket of your destination country should be presented during the visa application process.
  • If you are under the age of 18 years, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be provided.
  • You must have a clean criminal record.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • You are not allowed to study or work during your time in the country.
  • The visa is valid for 5 days.
  • You are required to exit the country before the expiry of your visa.
  • There is no extension to the transit visa.

  • The student visa is for foreigners who have applied and have been admitted to study in one of the schools in the country.
  • A letter of admission from the school you have been enrolled in must be provided before this visa will be issued to you.
  • Certificates and transcripts of the schools you previously attended is a necessary document to be provided during the visa application process.
  • If you are not a citizen of Kenya, a copy of your stay permit in Kenya is required.
  • You are required to show proof of German language proficiency or proof that you intend to take up a language course in Germany.
  • Holders of this visa are not prohibited from taking up work whilst studying as long as it does not affect their study.
  • You can extend the visa to last the duration of your studies in the country.
  • If you are a minor traveling without your parent, a letter of consent signed both your parents should be provided.
