Basic Travel Requirements for Laotians visiting Belgium

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Belgian Visa.

  • A duly completed and signed Belgium visa application form. 
  • Two identical passport photographs not older than three months, 35mmX45mm in size and must be taken against a light grey background. 
  • A passport not older than 10 years with a validity period of three months after your exit date in Belgium and must have two blank pages for visa stickers. 
  • Copies of your previous visa (if any). 
  • The Belgian languages include French, German and Dutch, Applicants are required to submit a language preference form stating in what language they want their application to be processed. 
  • Applicants who wish to complete their visa application in English should select no preference. 
  • Schengen medical travel insurance amounting to 30,000 euros to cover your medical emergencies while in the country.
  • A cover letter stating the purpose of your visit to Belgium, your entry and exit dates and the duration of stay in the country. 
  • Round trip flight itinerary
  • Marriage certificate, children birth certificate or spouse death certificate to show proof of civil status.  
  • Proof of accommodation. 
  • Proof of sufficient financial means to cover your duration of stay in the country. Foreigners who intend to stay in a hotel must attest to owning 95 euro per day and applicants who wish to stay in cheaper accommodation must attest to owning a sum of 45 euro per day.

Belgium Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Belgian tourist visa is a visa issued to a foreigner visiting Belgium for tourism, visitation, sight-seeing, and other recreational purposes. 
  • Laotians visiting Belgium must have a passport valid for a duration of three months beyond their exit date and the passport must have two blank pages for visa stamps. 
  • Two copies of the Belgian tourist visa application form. 
  • Two recently taken passport photographs not more than a month. 
  • Proof of legal resident in your origin country. 
  • A letter stating the purpose of your visit to Belgium and the duration of your stay in the country. 
  • Proof of your employment status and income. 
  • Travel health insurance amounting to 30,000 euros to cover your duration of stay in the country and other Schengen countries. 
  • Applicants traveling with a family member are required to submit the marriage certificate or birth certificate of the other party. 
  • Copy of flight reservation. 
  • Proof of accommodation or hotel reservation in Belgium. 
  • Employed applicants are required to their letter of appointment, leave letter, payment slips and bank statements for the last six months.
  • Retired applicants are required to show proof of retirement and bank statements of the last six months where their pension is been deposited. 
  • Self-employed applicants are expected to submit the following documents: Tax Clearance Certificate, Memorandum of Articles of Association, Certificate of Incorporation of Company, Certificate of Registration, Personal Income Certificate, letter of introduction and their personal and business bank statements for the past six months. 
  • If you are a student you are required to submit an attestation letter from your school stating that the school authority is aware of your absence. 
  • Minors traveling without their parents are required to submit a consent letter signed by both parents stating that they are aware of your trip to Belgium. Applicants traveling with one parent are expected to submit a consent letter signed by the absent parent. 



Belgium Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Belgian business visa is a visa issued to foreigners visiting Belgium for business transactions. 
  • Laotians who intend to attend trade fairs, conferences, business meetings or to sign business deals in Belgium can apply for this visa. 
  • A duly completed and signed Belgian business visa application form is required. 
  • A passport with at least three months validity and two blank pages for visa stickers is required. 
  • Recently taken passport sized photographs. 
  • A letter from the inviting company in Belgium. The letter must state the detailed address of the company and your travel dates and the purpose of your visit to the country. 
  • A letter from your employer giving consent to your trip to Belgium. 
  • A letter stating if the Belgian company or your employer is responsible for your traveling expenses. 
  • Bank statement of the last six months to show proof of sufficient funds to cover your duration of stay in Belgian. 
  • Proof of accommodation or hotel reservations in the country. 
  • Proof of paid visa application fee.

Belgium Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Belgian student visa is a visa issued to foreigners who wish to study in an accredited learning institution in Belgium. 
  • Laotians who wish to travel to Belgium for an internship or a course can apply for this visa.
  • A duly completed and signed Belgian student visa application form is required. 
  • Laotians visiting Belgium must have a passport valid for a duration of three months beyond their exit date and the passport must have two blank pages for visa stamps.
  • Two recently taken passport photographs not more than a month.
  • A medical certificate stating that the student is free from any contagious disease. 
  • A police certificate of good conduct stating that the applicant is free from any criminal offenses. 
  • Proof of sufficient financial means to cover your duration of stay in the country. 
  • Proof of admission to a learning institution in Belgium. 
  • Copy of your flight return ticket. 
  • Proof of accommodation in Belgium. 
  • Travel medical insurance amounting to 30,000 euros to cover your entire study year in Belgium. 
  • Copies of your diploma or certificates of your previous learning institution. 
  • Proof of registration at a recognized higher education institution in Belgium. This certificate should state that the applicant's main purpose in Belgium is studying. 
  • Proof of paid visa application fee. 
  • An employer's statement stating the need for you to pursue higher education as part of your work (when applicable).
