Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Jordanian Visa.

Jordan Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Laotians who intend to travel to Jordan for tourism purposes can apply for the Jordanian tourist visa.
  • There are three types of Jordanian tourist visa:
    • Single-entry visa: this visa is valid for two months.
    • Double-entry visa: this visa is valid for three months.
    • Multiple-entry visa: this visa is valid for six months.

  • Foreigners are required to declare amounts greater than JOD10,000 or the equivalent in other currencies at the entry port.

  • Travelers are required to register as soon as they enter the country. Travelers who fail to properly register themselves incur a fine of 1.5 JD (approximately 2 USD) per day beyond their permitted length of stay.

  • Travelers who wish to extend their stay are required to have an HIV/AIDS test performed at a government medical facility.

  • Certain areas of Jordan, including Petra, the Dead Sea, and other tourists areas, are prone to heavy rain and flash flooding from October-February. Roads and bridges may become impassable and the Jordanian government may close tourist areas completely.

  • The Jordanian constitution provides for freedom of speech and of the press with some restrictions. Insulting the King or members of the Royal Family may lead to imprisonment.

  • Travelers are advised not to visit Jordan as it is not safe for foreigners, but if you decide to visit anyways ensure you heed to the following:

    • Be aware of your surroundings.
    • Take appropriate steps to increase your security awareness.
    • Be unpredictable in your movements by varying your times and routes.
    • Maintain a low profile.
    • Avoid contact with any suspicious or unfamiliar objects and immediately report the presence of such objects to local authorities.
  • Applicants are required to show proof of sufficient funds to cover their duration of stay in Jordan.

  • Applicants who wish to stay with a friend or family in Jordan are required to submit a document stating the personal information of the host, the residential address and contact details of the host.

  • Proof of flight return tickets. This document is needed to show that the applicant will leave Jordan after the tourist visa expires.

  • The Jordanian business visa is a visa issued to foreigners who intend to visit Jordan for business purposes.
  • A Passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages for visa stamps.
  • A duly signed and completed business visa application form.
  • Laotians visiting Jordan for business meetings, conferences, trade fairs or business trainings can apply for the Jordanian business visa.
  • Foreigners looking to do business in Jordan will likely find opportunities in the country’s growing economy. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the process of doing business is a smooth one.
  • The workdays in Jordan run from Sunday to Thursday. Business hours are usually from 8:30 to 13:00 and 15:30 to 18:30.
  • While Arabic is the official language of the country, most international business dealings are done in English. However, foreigners are advised to learn a few Arabic phrases for the convenience of the Jordanian business associates.
  • Handshakes are the standard greeting in Jordan and eye contact is important. Men should, however, wait for women to initiate a handshake. The most senior person, usually the eldest, should be greeted first.
