Basic Travel Requirements for Laotians visiting Sweden

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Swedish Visa.

  • A duly completed and signed visa application form. 
  • Passport with a validity of at least 3 months from the intended period of exiting the country.
  • Two blank passport pages for visa stickers.
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs with a white background.
  • A travel insurance confirmation with a minimum of 30,000 euros coverage within Sweden and the entire Schengen area.
  • A cover letter stating the purpose of your travel to Sweden.
  • A flight itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit dates from Sweden.

Sweden Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Sweden tourist visa is a visa issued to foreigners visiting Sweden for tourism, leisure, and other recreational purposes. 
  • The Swedish tourist visa is a short-stay visa that allows a stay of up to 90 days during a period of 180 days from the application date.  
  • Laotians who wish to visit friends or relatives in Sweden can apply for this visa. 
  • A passport issued in not more than 10 years with a validity period of three months after exit from the country. The passport must have at least two blank pages for visa stickers,
  • Two passport-sized photograph taken within the last six months. 
  • Sweden is a Schengen country and traveler with a Swedish visa are allowed to visit other Schengen countries while their visa is still valid.
  • An invitation letter from a friend or relative in Sweden is required, The letter must state the detailed address and contact information of the host.  
  • Children between the age of 1-6 do not need a visa to visit Sweden.
  • Minors traveling to Sweden are required to submit a consent letter written and signed by the applicant's parents or legal guardian. The letter must state that both parents are aware of the applicant trip.
  • Minors traveling with one parent are required to submit a consent letter signed by the other parent showing that he/she give consent to your travel with the other party.
  • Travel medical insurance amounting to 30,000 euros for emergency cases or accidents while in Sweden and other Schengen areas.  
  • A cover letter stating the purpose of your visit to the country and your entry and exit dates from the Schengen country. 
  • Proof of financial status to show that you are capable of paying for your expenses while in Sweden. Applicants are required to have a sum of 450SEK for each day they spend in Sweden.
  • Proof of accommodation or hotel reservations in Sweden.
  • Employed applicants are required to show a bank statement of the last six months, certificate of income tax returns, employment contracts and No-objection certificate from your employer.
  • Self-employed applicants are required to submit a copy of their business license, their company's bank statement of the latest six months and income tax returns.
  • If you are retired, a copy of your pension statement of the latest six months is required.

Sweden Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Sweden business visa also called the Schengen business visa is a visa issued to Foreigners traveling to Sweden for business transactions or to sign business deals. 
  • Laotians visiting Sweden to attend business meetings, conferences, trade fairs, and exhibitions can apply for this visa. 
  • Original Passport with a validity period of six months and at least two blank visa pages is required. 
  • A duly filled and signed Sweden business visa application form. 
  • Two recent passport-size colored photographs 80% face coverage, white background and 35mm x 45mm in size.
  • A covering letter with your entire travel plan.
  • Original updated Bank Statements for the last 3 months, the bank statements must show the bank stamp or seal.
  • Income Tax Returns for the last three months.
  • Invitation letter from host Company stating the purpose of your trip to Sweden and the type of business transaction to be conducted.

Sweden Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Student Visa is issued to foreigners who have been offered admission to study in a learning institution in Sweden. 
  • Laotians visiting Sweden to further their education or for an internship can apply for the Swedish student visa. 
  • The original letter of admission from the institution that the applicant has been accepted should be presented during the visa application. This letter should state the duration of the applicant's course and that the applicants have paid in full the first installment of his/her tuition fee.   
  • The applicant must have a passport with a validity of 6 months at the time of application. The passport should be issued not earlier than 10 years before the time of application.
  • Proof of financial capacity showing that you have the funds to pay for the course you are enrolled in as well as support your stay in the country. Applicants must attest to owning 8190 SEK for each month of stay in Sweden.
  • Proof of health insurance to cover your entire duration of stay in Sweden.
  • Applicants are expected to submit an essay not more than 1000 words stating the reason why you have chosen Sweden as the country for your studies. The letter must show the reasons why studying in Sweden is better than in your home country.
  • Certificate, transcript or diplomas of your earlier educational background.
  • Proof of accommodation in Sweden.  
  • Applicants under the age of 18 are required to submit the original and photocopies of their birth certificate. 
  • Two copies of your curriculum vitae. 
  • Proof of paid visa application fee. 
  • Applicants should note that all documents to be submitted must be written in Swedish or English.
