Basic Travel Requirements for Lesothos visiting Germany

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a German Visa.

  • A completed and signed application form is required.
  • Two attached passport photos must be recent and of a white background.
  • Copies of applicant's s passport and previous visas are required.
  • The name on the visa application must be the same as the passport. 
  • If they are not the same the application will be rejected and you have to reapply.
  • A copy of the applicant's return ticket reservation.
  • It is not recommended to purchase a ticket before the visa is purchased.
  • Travel medical visa insurance with a minimum of 30,000 EURO coverage for the entire stay in Germany.
  • A cover letter stating the purpose and duration of travel to Germany.
  • A copy of the applicant's return tickets reservation dates and flight number, specifying entry and exit from Germany.
  • Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of the trip which could be either a hotel reservation or a friend or family's house address.
  • Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of your children, death certificate of the applicant’s spouse or ration card).
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay by providing a bank account statement.
  • While returning to Lesotho, a document should be submitted to the immigration department showing that the applicant does not yellow fever.
  • For children below 7 years travelling, the birth certificate along with the polio vaccination certificate needs to be provided.

Germany Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The tourist visa is granted to foreigners visiting Germany for the purpose of tourism or cultural and recreational activities. 
  • A Germany tourist visa is valid only up to 90 days.
  • A valid signed passport showing at least six months’ validity from the date of entry in Germany.
  • Passport should contain one full blank page for visa entry stamp.
  • Germany visa application form that is filled out, printed, signed and dated by the applicant.
  • One recent passport photo, front view, taken against a white background is required.
  • A copy of a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Germany, passenger names, flight numbers, and arrival/departure dates.
  • A copy of a proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months should be provided.
  • For minors travelling alone, both parents must sign the application form.
  • The original and one copy of the birth certificate must be presented by minors.
  • A notarized visa consent letter for minor children must be presented, signed by both parents (even if the minor is travelling with both parents)
  • Immunization record for polio for children between ages of three months and six years. 
  • Note that the notarization of documents issued in Lesotho must be done by a Notary Public within the jurisdiction of this Consulate.

  • Original Lesotho passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel to Germany.
  • 1 recent passport size photograph taken against a white background is required.
  • Correctly filled and signed Germany visa application form of the applicant.
  • A covering letter which has the company letterhead, the name of the company,  the designation of the candidate, the department applicant works in and the contact information.
  • Letter of invitation from the concerned organization in Germany.
  • The letter should also include all the details of the organization that has invited the applicant to Germany such as the registration number of the organisation, the duration and purpose of stay of the applicant.
  • Travel itinerary showing entry and exit from Germany.
  • A document showing proof of registration of the company.
  • The applicant’s income tax returns from the past 3 years.
  • The applicant’s bank statements from the previous 6 months with sufficient amount of money in the account, seal of the concerned bank and its signature.
  • Salary slip of the candidate from the past three months from the most recent organisation applicant has worked for.
  • While returning to Lesotho, the applicant has to produce a document to the immigration department that clears him the applicant from yellow fever.
