Canada visa requirements for Liberians

The Canadian visitor's visa is issued to Liberians visiting for sightseeing, tourism and recreational purposes. 

A Canadian visitors visa can also be referred to as a Canadian Temporary Resident Visa(TRV).

If the purpose of the applicant's visit is to see a relative or friend, a letter of invitation should be provided.

The letter should contain the full contact details of the host and a valid means of identification.

Liberians who wish to partake in business activities can also do so on the visitor's visa.

If the purpose of travel is to transit through Canada to a destination country, a visitors visa will also be required.

Applicants who are employed are to submit a letter from their employer stating their awareness and duration of the applicants leave.

The host company in Canada should provide a letter stating the nature of business to be carried out and duration.

Proof of company registration should be submitted.

Proof of previous business dealings should be provided.

Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicant's duration of stay should be submitted.

Proof of incentive of returning to Liberia at the expiration of your visa should be submitted.

Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation should be submitted.

Applicants travel itinerary and round trip reservation should be submitted.

Proof of medical fitness and yellow fever vaccination should be submitted.

Extension of the visitor's visa is possible. To get an extension, you need to apply before the visa expires.

Applicants who are under the age of 18 are to submit the original copy of their birth certificate. A letter of consent from one or both parents should be provided if the minor would be travelling without either of them.

Applicants are to adhere to all the rules guiding the visitors visa.

Liberians with the intention of studying in any of the institutions of learning in Canada are the eligible candidates of the student’s visa.

Applicants should ensure that they have been offered admission into an institute of learning in Canada before initiating the visa application process.

Applicants of this visa need to obtain a study permit before they can start studying. 

Canadian study permit can be renewed if the applicants decide to further their studies.

Bearers of this visa can request an extension on this visa type. The extension must be extended 3 months before the expiration of this visa.

A letter of acceptance from the institution that the applicant of this visa has been accepted should be provided.

The letter should state the course to be studied and the duration of the study program.

Certificates and transcripts from previously attended institutions should be submitted.

If the certificates do not match the course in which the applicant has been offered admission, the visa application might be denied.

Bearers of this visa are allowed to work part-time when school is in section and full time during holidays.

Proof of proficiency in the English language is required. Most times accessed from your TOEFL or IELTS tests results.

Proof of medical fitness and yellow fever vaccination should be submitted.

Proof of clean criminal record showing that the applicant has not been convicted should be submitted.

Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicant's duration of stay should be submitted.

Proof of incentive of returning to Liberia at the expiration of your visa should be submitted.

Proof of part or full payment of the applicant's tuition fee should be submitted.

If you are under the age of 18 years, the original copy of your birth certificate which carries the name of both parents should be provided.

Applicants are advised to adhere to all rules guiding the students visa.

The Canadian work visa is issued to Liberians visiting Canada for work purposes.

Before initiating the work visa application process, Liberians should ensure that they have been offered employment by an employer in Canada.

Applicants are to submit a copy of their employment letter.

The company in Canada should provide proof that there was no Canadian qualified and willing to take up the job as at when the employment was offered.

Certificates that qualify the applicants for the job in which they have been offered employment should be submitted.

If the certificates do not match the job description, the visa application may be denied.

Proof that the applicant will not be paid below the Canadian national minimum wage should be submitted.

A work permit is required in order to be able to work in Canada.

An offer of employment from a Canadian employer is usually required before the worker may be granted a Temporary Work Permit by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).

Before a Temporary Work Permit can be issued, the Canadian employer who wishes to hire a temporary foreign worker may need to apply for and be granted a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) by ESDC.

You must have a good command of the English language before applying for this visa.
