Luxembourg Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Luxembourg tourist visa is a short-stay visa issued to applicants for the purpose of tourism, sightseeing, recreational activities, and visiting friends and families.
  • You must show proof of having individual medical travel insurance that is valid in all the Schengen countries.
  • This insurance must have a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
  • If visiting friends or family in Luxembourg, you must provide an invitation letter from your host confirming they are aware of your intended visit.
  • The applicant will also need to provide a cover letter. The cover letter should explain the nature and purpose of the trip along with relevant justification.
  • Proof of applicant's accommodation in Luxembourg is needed.
  • The applicant's certificate of salary for at least three months preceding the date of application will be sufficient proof of financial standing.
  • The visa will not be granted if the applicant fails to demonstrate they have enough money to cater for their stay in Luxembourg.
  • Applicants of this visa are not allowed to be enrolled in any learning institutions in the country.
  • You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires.
  • All documents submitted should be translated into German, French or Luxembourgish.
  • If you are a minor under the age of 18 years and intend to travel alone to Luxembourg, you will have to provide written consent from your parents or guardians who have your custody and it must be certified by a public notary.
  • You must provide proof that you intend to leave Luxembourg at the end of your authorized stay.
  • Bring original copies and photocopies of all supporting documents when you come to submit your visa application form at the Embassy of Luxembourg.

Luxembourg Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Luxembourg business visa is issued to Liberians travelling to the country for business purposes.
  • A bank statement for the last three months is required to show that the applicant is capable of financing their full travel expenses.
  • You will need to provide an invitation letter from the Luxembourg company you will be visiting. 
  • The letter should contain detailed addresses, date, and purpose of your trip.
  • If the intention is to attend a meeting or seminar, confirmation/invitation from the conference organizer/institution is required.
  • If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating or allowing your business travel.
  • Applicants who are self-employed will submit proof of business registration.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to be employed while in the country.
  • This visa is valid for not more than 90 days but can be extended.
  • It must be made clear whether your trip will be sponsored by the employer or the local company in Liberia.
  • It is advisable to apply for a business visa three months before your planned trip.

Luxembourg Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • A student visa is issued to foreigners who want to pursue an educational course in Luxembourg for not more than 90 days.
  • A student visa must be obtained before entry into the country.
  • You cannot apply for a student visa while already in Luxembourg with a different class of visa.
  • You must provide proof of your financial ability to support yourself monetarily during the course of your study in Luxembourg.
  • You must have a valid insurance for health and accidents covering the total number of days you will be staying in Luxembourg as a student.
  • The insurance must be valid for all Schengen countries for a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
  • You must provide proof of being enrolled as a full-time student in one of Luxembourg’s institutions for higher education.
  • You are to also provide proof that you have fully or partly paid for your tuition fees.
  • Applicants must provide the original copy of the ‘temporary authorization to stay’ letter issued by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg.
  • Proof of accommodation must be provided.
  • Apply for a student visa at least 3 months in advance of your planned travel date to avoid your travel been delayed. 
  • You must provide an incentive that shows you intend to leave Luxembourg at the end of your authorized stay.

Luxembourg Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Liberians planning to take up jobs in Luxembourg are eligible to apply for a work visa.
  • The original certificate allowing the employer to hire a third-country national must be presented.
  • You are to also provide a copy of your resume and personal qualifications.
  • Non-nationals coming to Luxembourg through employment by a Luxembourg-based company will use their employment contract as a good start for getting a residence permit.
  • Applicants are advised to apply for a residence permit as early as possible, ideally as soon as they have the employee contract.
  • It might take a few months to process your application, so be conscious of which address receives your work permit.
  • You are highly advised to apply for a work visa to Luxembourg at least two months prior to your trip to the country.
  • The Luxembourg work visa is usually valid for 1 year but there is an option of extension.
  • Visa holders have the chance to apply for a visa extension, upon the expiration of their visa.
