General Requirements for Mexico Visa
Mexico Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to Liberians who wish to visit Mexico for tourism, recreational activities and sightseeing.
- Those who wish to visit friends and family members residing in Mexico will also need a tourist visa.
- An invitation letter from the friend or relative you are paying a visit to in the country should be provided.
- Your position in the company, the term of your employment, and the duration of your leave should be stated in the letter.
- If you are under the age of 18, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be made available.
- Also, a letter of consent signed by both your parents is required if you will be traveling without your parents.
- At your first port of entry in Mexico, you have to go through Customs and Immigration. You will be asked about your purpose of travel, whether it’s your first time in Mexico, etc.
- A document that shows you have the intention of returning back to your home country after the visa expires should be submitted.
- Proof of sufficient funds (e.g., bank statements or a letter stating current salary, or an original letter from the person financially supporting the traveler) is needed.
- A letter specifying the purpose of the trip and also showing the entry and departure dates should also be submitted.
- Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up paid jobs during their stay in Mexico.
- All documents to be submitted must be original and certified copies.
Mexico Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to Liberians traveling to Mexico for business purposes.
- A signed official letter from your employer confirming that you are undertaking this business trip on the company’s behalf is needed.
- You must also provide a cover letter from your employer stating the length and purpose of the trip.
- An appointment letter that proves the applicant has been working with the company for at least 1 year should be provided.
- If going for a business meeting, the Mexican company you’d be meeting may also provide a letter confirming the trip.
- If you are responsible for the costs of the trip, evidence of how you intend to finance your trip and support yourself for the duration of your visit must be provided.
- You must provide original payslips or bank statements for the last three months. This is proof of your current financing standing for the period of the trip.
- If a number of trips are required/envisaged, this must be clearly stated in the official letter.
- The Mexico business visa costs about $32 to process and in most cases will be ready in two days. Depending on the country and embassy involved, processing time could go up to 8 weeks so applicants are advised to always submit their applications well in advance.
- The visa fee can be paid in cash in most embassies. Some embassies accept only money orders. You should check with your nearest embassy for information about how they accept payments.
- You are expected to have at least $50 for each day of your stay in Mexico.
- The applicant must make an appointment online before heading to the embassy.
Mexico Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is for applicants planning to go to Mexico for study.
- You must ensure you have been accepted by a recognized institution of learning in Mexico before applying for this visa.
- The original admission letter written on the school’s letterhead should be provided.
- Proof of your paid tuition fees must be provided.
- As a student in Mexico, you are allowed to take up part-time jobs for 20 hours per week when school is in session and full-time when the school is on break.
- Also, a notarized letter of consent signed by both your parents should be provided.
- The Mexico student visa can be extended to cover up the duration of your study.
- While tourist visas are valid for 6 months, the validity of the student visa is one year.
- If the duration of your studies is less than 180 days, you will need a visitor student visa.
- For a duration of more than 180 days, you will need a temporary resident student visa.
- The validity of a temporary resident student visa is one year. It could get renewed for a maximum of three years after the first year.
- If you have a scholarship, then you have to present the scholarship letter from the institution, mentioning the amount of the scholarship.
- Candidates need to present the enrollment letter or letter of acceptance from the institution they plan to attend, explaining the level, grade, duration of the planned studies, and field of study.
- Applicants need to show proof of their economic solvency and periodic and uninterrupted receipt of the sum of US$ 300 monthly for their living expenses during the study period.
- Applicants must provide a medical statement showing they are free from any illness of public health concern.
- The student visa can be issued at an average of 2 days or can take up to 3 weeks, depending on the nationality of the applicant.
- Cost of issuing a visa varies depending on nationality. It can be anywhere between US$30 – $50.
- All documents submitted must be original and certified copies.
