Basic Travel Requirements for Malawians visiting Luxembourg

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Luxembourger Visa.


  • Malawi passport must have a validity that extends the duration of the visa the applicant is applying for by at least 3 months.
  • You must have a valid passport with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Completed and signed visa application form should be submitted by the applicant.
  • The applicant must provide proof of confirmed hotel reservation and flight bookings.
  • The applicant must provide the complete travel program for the entire duration of stay in Luxembourg, including itinerary, dates, and places to be visited.
  • The applicant must provide a copy of the round-trip or onward journey ticket.
  • The applicant must provide proof of sufficient financial means so as to support yourself financially during your stay in Luxembourg and for your return transportation
  • The applicant must provide a formal statement of the financial situation from the bank for the last 3 months and the statement must be signed by the bank manager in Malawi.
  • Applicant must provide a copy of Income Tax Return papers for the last 2 years.
  • Medical travel insurance that is valid for the whole duration of stay in Luxembourg and it must have a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000 
  • The medical insurance must cover costs for your emergency medical treatment or urgent hospitalization.
  • If the applicant is a minor, under the age of 18 years, and intend to travel alone to Luxembourg, written consent from your parents or guardians is required and it must be certified by a public notary. 
  • If the minor intends to travel with only one parent, the written consent of the other parent or guardian is required.
  • Applicants are required to leave Luxembourg at the end of the authorized stay.
  • Applicants are required to bring original copies and photocopies of all supporting documents when you come to submit your visa application form at the Embassy of Luxembourg.
